Lol. “Board members shall we sack KR - performances are terrible and the fans are turning”. “There are 3 people on YF who still like him, and those 2 nutters who keep phoning the bbc. That’s a good enough excuse to hold out a bit longer. Phew”.
Come on then brains, clearly tou have the answer as to why it took them so long, or is ridicule as far as your brain extends.🤣

I already said what I thought the board were doing back in the thread where we were discussing it.

Everybody on this forum can see that we need to play 3-5-2 except seemingly the people picking the team.
352 etc (or infact any system) only works when all the players understand the system, where they fit into it and where everyone else fits in .

If they don't, then however attractive it may seem on paper, in practice it just turns into the disjointed mess we've seen at times this season.

The issue with mk at home (for instance) was not in itself having c brown as wing back, it was the fact that the front five had clearly not been given any indication of how they were meant to line up and interact.

This is why sticking with 433 made sense - it was the only system the players really understand and could function in, AND, in all likelihood because, the only system KR was able to coach well (and tbf one he has coached very well at times in previous seasons) or could get across to them.

If the new guy can get 352/532 across to them all in a week, then great, it'll suit what we have, but that takes a lot more than just plugging XI names into a formation planner and thinking job done - which is perhaps where our recent incumbent(and some forum members) went wrong

A good coach should be able to implement and coach a variety of systems.

Robinson‘s preferred system is 4-3-3 and he couldn’t even recruit the right players for it in the summer.

So we ended up with a bunch of players that look as if a 3/5/2-5/3/2 could be their best formation and a coach who couldn’t implement that system!

It’s the worst summer recruitment known to man!
