“We’re 9 or 10 games in, I’m watching people next to us celebrate as if they’re 35 games in, and when they win a promotion they can come and talk to me”

“They’ve spent bundles… big investment”

Evans not happy with how our bench celebrated? Also mentions Oxford’s big investment a couple of times
Thing is I don't think they will want to talk to you!

Player Ratings: (Watched the game but missed the first ten minutes)

Beadle: 8 - Made one absolutely superb save low down in the second half, after seeing it late. Claimed several high balls well. The lad is a class act.

Leigh: 9 - Can’t ask much more from your left wing back than to score two goals, and generally look like a quality player. I can see how Ipswich got promoted with players like him and Edwards in the side. He’s quick, strong, athletic, good in the air and can finish.

Brown: 6 - He was given a tough time today, probably struggled the most in defence. Caught very high up the pitch for their goal. Still was big and strong often.

Moore: 7.5 - Won so many headers and did well for his goal. Aggressive. His complete lack of pace was glaringly exposed for their goal though.

Long: 6.5 - The usual Sam Long performance full of heart and effort. Caught out for their goal but also put plenty of good blocks in. Was very lucky to completely lose his man at 2-1 but see him put his free header wide.

Stevens: 7 - I thought he was decent without ever excelling. Put the cross in for the goal. The sort of fit, useful utility player who gets your promoted.

Brannagan: 7 - Worked hard, battled, scrapped. Great player to have in the trenches in a game like this.

McGuane: 7.5 - Good as ever and worked hard. Been in the top 3 players in the side in every game I’ve seen so far this season.

Goodrham: 7 - Immense workrate. Snapped around the pitch like a terrier chasing the ball. He can scrap as well as do the pretty stuff.

Rodrigues: 7 - Didn’t quite come off for him today but he worked hard and didn’t let his head drop, and was neat and tidy and useful with the ball.

Bodin: 7 - Led the line well and hit the post with his header to set up the first goal but really should have scored or at the very least done better when clean through.
Don’t agree with your scoring
Long and Brown 6.5 & 6
We conceded 1 goal
Stevens Goodrham Rodrigues were they playing
Bodin scoring maybe when he gets home
Leigh superb

My therapist said the same thing and in a Liverpool accent, ever time I got defensive over KR (I think she goated me every Saturday on our losing streak (surely not STFC???!) but she screeched "Calm down, calm down, the ghost will never rest until you let him die" and Iv'e never thought of him since..... until now
When I told her my "loss" was Oxford losing KR and how great he was she said to me "TFFT I thought you were grieving a pet"

I’m not too fussed about corpulent Evans’ opinion of the game. To be fair, I didn’t disagree with his assessment of big parts of the play. Stevenage should’ve scored those chances. They did dominate for 10 minutes or so after they bought that big tall CF on instead of Hemmings (and our centre halves couldn’t seem to work out that if they just stopped trying to win the first ball against a giant they could just hoover up the second ball instead) and the game would absolutely have been different if they’d have gone 2-0 or got it to 2-2. And we clearly HAVE spent pretty hefty amounts on the squad this season.

I’m quite sure Manning (or whomever he was referencing with his little ‘celebrations’ comment) will take absolutely no lectures on touchline etiquette and behaviour from the likes of Evans and Paul Raynor either. They are just an awful pair.

And you end up in Stevenage.
Actually, less of an armpit than I expected. We spent about an hour parked on the m25 on our way up, but then had a look round Knebworth House, checked in to the Roebuck, watched Oxford hump Stevenage then curry at the Roebuck, watched the end of the spurs-pool match in the bar with some chirpy geezers.

We defended superbly. I detest Stevenage’s style but they have some excellent players, ie Reid.

It was like a exam today, the ‘Wycombe’ paper, and after a really rocky start, we passed with flying colours.

Murphy was different class when he came on. What a bench we’ve got.

Beadle creates such security for his defence, that save was the top moment .

The little Stevenage kids were tiresome and that incident with the steward was nasty. He doesn’t sign up for violence when he dons his hi viz. I hope the kid has the book thrown at him.

Said to my brother before the game that if we won today everyone would have to allow themselves to believe we’re automatic promotion contenders. Hard to feel any other way after that. It’s there to be had.

The squad looks so together and motivated to succeed. The way they celebrated after the third showed that. Murphy is starting to show up and he deserves credit for that, and a clean slate. He’s lucky to still be here but he’s impacting games when he gets an opportunity and looks like he wants to play. If he keeps at it then he can play his part.

As for Greg Leigh, I’ve never loved a man like I love him. Nothing animalistic about my feelings; I adore him. It’s beyond physical. He is The One.

Brillianr result and performance, even the home radio presenters said we were heads and shoulders above pompey.
Good to see Murphy growing in stature.
Can we go all the way?
Really thought Stevenage would keep going a that pace, when in the end it was a mere cameo they played
