Fake odds on nationality:
English 6/4
Northern Irish 4/1
Welsh 5/1
Scottish 8/1
Irish 12/1
Italian 16/1
Australian 33/1
Spanish 66/1
He’ll be German, deffo. Says so in the Oxford Mail 😉

If interviews consistently reward people who are good at interviews rather than people who are going to be good at the actual job, that's a fault of the interview process. And it's not an insurmountable one.

Breaking from a formulaic approach and doing something for which candidates can't fully prepare is one useful tactic. I work in a career where interviews are conducted to very inflexible guidelines, and it's a huge failing.

The aim is often to inject objectivity into a process that can only ever be subjective. That's the same error that leads modern football to obsess over formal coaching qualifications. I'm bound to point out that legendary English and Scottish managers managed just fine (so to speak) without a UEFA licence.

Anyone remember when we beat MK at ours backend of last season? Can't remember a team outplaying us so convincingly at home but coming away with nothing.
They were brilliant, but they made a mistake and we somehow held on. That squad was then decimated and Manning had to essentially start from scratch without financial backing.

Excited to see what kind of squad he'll put together when given the money. I could see us having an entirely new starting eleven come August, unless Cam stays.

Interviews are fallible though giving some sort of test or project to do can be useful. However they’re more reliable than asking what a bunch of online guys ‘reckon’.

Was Manning responsible for bringing the good players into the club or was it someone else? We don't appear to have that infrastructure to support him if that's the case.

I believe Manning took over a team built by Martin, once he left Manning took over and had a fairly good season.

When it was time for the rebuild, he built the side that’s struggling this season. This appointment if true, really worries me

Do league clubs need to abide by the Rooney Rule for head coach positions? I thought I read that it was introduced from 2022 but don’t know if it’s advised or mandatory.

JFH may have applied.

So if it’s Manning, we would be going from a manager who previously lost in a League One play-off semi final to Wycombe Wanderers, but has been crap this season, to…
And we’ll have spent nearly two weeks appointing someone who has been unemployed for three months.

This is despite everyone but Tim Williams and the Board seeing that KR was a busted flush for months.

Hope he cuts out the stupid play around the box, we had them in both games and saw Mk consistently persist in doing it around their own box and get punished

The conversation I had last week said that 5 people had been interviewed and they were looking to interview the top 2 again this week. No mention was made at that time about others being spoken to. I asked about names and was told that because of the betting market they couldn't risk giving names. I said, "is it safe to say it's MApp and one other". The reply was "no, he's not expected to get a second interview."

I've had a couple of health issues over the last few weeks, and had a day in hospital this week, and surgery likely the week after next. So I haven't posted much and haven't spoken to this individual since the end of last week.

Simply put, I don't know the names of the final 2, or if anyone else spoken to this week has changed the picture. I was leaning towards Grant McCann, but Liam Manning is someone that we would have all loved to have had here if we were a year ago. Heard good things about his coaching style and development of players, but may be burnt by his experience this season.

Like others, I would expect an announcement this week and expected one today - but hopefully tomorrow to get things in place for some huge games coming up.
All the best

Shouldn't we appoint Martin then?

I remember back in the early summer when a number of posters started to want KR out, suggestions were we should go for a new style young modern manager, in the mould of Schumacher at Plymouth or Manning at MK. Up and coming new coaches/managers was seen as the way forward.

Ok so Manning had a poor 2nd season at MK, but given the players they sold and lost in the summer, that weren‘t reinvested to anything like the same extent, I’m certainly not unhappy if he is to be our new manager. Whatever division we are in next season I think he’s more than capable of getting things back on track here, if we properly back and support him.

Rubbish. Those players that stood out last season for MK were sold from underneath him.

Sweeting is in charge of bringing players in, and Manning had no say on recruitment. He was fighting a losing battle from the Summer window.

We as Fans were suffering this season right from last January, when the transfer window was diabolical, and the summer window was laughable.

Excellent. So we can expect some lovely passing and patterns of play, but still lose?
