One step at a time of course and let's get the new guy in first and focus our efforts on staying up.

However boy am I looking fwd to the possibility of a proper pre-season where we we're not scratching around a few days before the season starts and having a couple of pre-seasons before Xmas.
....and still needing to sign 48 players to fill the squad places up.

Hmmmm…

Graeme Murty and Robbie Savage lookalikes spotted in a Bicester restaraunt a couple of hours ago!

What can that possibly mean?

Would love to know who the left field candidate is? Foreign?

As for the process, I expect that the board haven't just sifted through incoming applications and have actually made an awful lot of effort in researching and approaching people they want to speak too.

I think that Denis Smith did pretty well? Ian Greaves was hardly there long enough to compare with someone promoting us to the Championship equivalent?
Yes I'll agree Dennis did a fine job and perhaps I was a little short sighted on Smithy's achievement. However, to reiterate, we all (should) know lots about Arthur and Jimbo but to me it was Greavesie who for the few months this geezer was at our club he booted and kick started our football club to go onto the great and special times that us older geezers nowadays all got to see during Jim's reign (+ Maricio Evans League Cup final win) and for that I will be forever grateful for this hard nosed man's impact he instilled in lifting up the club for Jimbo + M.Evans to polish.

COYY'S

Manning seems to have come from nowhere. He’s got. A good track record and is probably local.
Has to be him or Appleton. Meanwhile who is going to be Assistant Manager? Surely not Craig Short
Manning really has not got a good record. As pointed out. he inherited an outstanding team.

Manning certainly comes across well - this is hIm speaking back in 2021 - after being appointed MKD boss.

I believe that a Manager/Head Coach has to have a nasty streak, must be able to give a constructive rollicking and for me Manning is ‘too nice’.

Ian Greaves laid the groundwork, & started to build those successful teams, of the 80s.. He definitely started the ball rolling, until the ,same old same old a bigger club came calling.

KR talking... Go to 17:25 mins
Interesting interview. He sounded a whole load clearer than in recent months, more contrite about some of the mistakes and certainly more reflective. He acknowledged that his transfer dealings played a massive part in the eventual unravelling here and also acknowledged that it was the right decison to let him go. I came away from listening to that thinking that I’m actually really pleased for him that he’s been released from a situation that was clearly damaging for him personally.

Probably reading too much into it, but these bits didn't sound great for those of us on the Appleton train:

"Stories that X was wanted by Oxford were first being published while United were almost certainly still discussing the sort of manager they want"

"discussion of a return for anyone who has had success as a coach or a player at Oxford in the past is usually unduly amplified"

"People look to the bookmakers' odds but when it comes to League One managers, I don't know why"

A very interesting interview. He certainly came over very different to the many interviews I have listened to in the last few months. Personally it sounds like the best result for Oxford and him personally leaving the club.
Agree. I never particularly liked KR, but he sounded much more sensible here. His decision making appeared to fall off a cliff in the last 18 months. Maybe a few months out of the game will sort him out. His behaviour seemed increasingly erratic. All very strange.

George Elek is pretty well connected, and he is adamant that Appleton is ’very interested’ in returning
