I think QPR fans would argue that they are a 'relatively small' club in the Championship. Forest fans certainly would. And he was dismissed by Forest when they were 14th. Hence his record since leaving Brentford has been pretty average imo. Anyway, as he's unlikely to get the job, I don't really care tbh.

QPR supporters and board think that they are a bigger club than they are!

This is exactly what needs consideration when we appoint. Whoever gets it will be supported but Appleton would be paraded and would galvanise the fan base. Power of that should not be underestimated. It is not all about qualifications.

Yeah but the same guy got them to 3rd and were it not for a disruptive loss to yours truly, he was well on the way to being in the championship. Subsequently though, their summer was a disaster. And the telling thing will be what say he had in that but to raise over £10m in sales and fritter it away on hopefuls and has-beens was not much better than Karl Robinson.

Saying all this, he plays my type of football that I enjoy watching and I think he'd fit the mould here in may ways. Much rather him than Cowley or McCann if being honest but are any of those ready for a relegation battle?
