Let's be honest though. Who actually thought was the real deal when he was here? Just about everyone would have thought he was part of the problem if he had stayed for another month! and no he did not would not have stopped us losing all those games.
I think a few people on here were saying to put Mous in temporary charge to see how he'd get on.

It was obvious listening to him talk that he was a clever guy who had the respect of those round him.

And wasn't he the guy in charge for our 3-1 win away at Bolton in October? Probably our best result of the season.

Yesterday definitely felt like we’d entered silly season… hopefully most of it is just the usual white noise that surrounds these processes 🤞

We just have to keep the faith that the board will make a sensible considered choice. Hopefully they will have a list of the attributes they are looking for:

Experience and success in league 1
Modern thinking
Leans towards a data driven model
Can work within a structured team
Develops young players

Within those parameters, for me, four names stand out with most if not all of those qualities listed. Appleton, Richardson, McCann, Critchley. Hopefully they are the sort of names on the interview short list.

For some reason I’m not convinced Richardson would be interested but I would be more than happy with Appleton, McCann or Critchley

Mous was saying it privately at the time and most of the players would have loved it to happen
KR was pretty unstable and irrational most of the time so they craved Mous's calmness and common sense

Time will tell ,next year Portsmouth will expect to be up there and if not he will be gone. Football is a crazy game. I hope he does well but I want us to do better. We need to stay up. It will be interesting how we do Saturday sometimes you don't get a bounce of any sort then we are in trouble. We have a poor squad what ever our ceo thinks but there are some good managers out there and we hope we find the right person for us.

No one could be sure but I was certainly up for him having a go as were plenty of others. Plenty of posts on here fro people who were gutted when he left as it felt like we'd missed out on the ultimate low hanging fruit at the time.

What's more damning is the board will have seen him every day and should in theory should have been perfectly aware of his abilities. He'd applied for jobs before the Pompey one so they must have known sticking with Robinson would mean he was likely to leave, meaning that as well as having no obvious caretaker replacement we were left with a massive leadership void, hence three managers to go with our two captains.

As disappointing as it is it's done now and nothing can be done. They need to make sure they get the next appointment spot on having made mistakes by keeping Robinson in place for so long when it was obvious to all his race was run.

To add to the above, for anyone feeling sorry for KR, I would expect that he is actually being paid in full for the duration of his contract, it’s just that we’ve relieved him of his duties.

So he will most likely sit at home being paid his full salary until such time as he finds a new job and we will then stop paying him.

The reward of failure.

I know it’s been said before, but can’t help myself. The board messed up in so many ways delaying the inevitable sacking of Robinson. Mous would defo have taken it on an interim basis, a selection of Pompey tweets from tonight..
And yet look at the feedback on him when he was rumoured and then announced as new manager. Bunch of wet wipes don't even deserve him.
What could have been...

Myself and several others on here, he’s a class act.

By taking the easy option the board made a huge mistake in not sacking Robinson in the autumn, and by doing that they’ve somehow let Mousiniho slip through their fingers.

We as fans can only hope that they have learnt by their mistakes, will conduct a professionally, thorough recruitment process and appoint a new manager and back room who will unite the club, keep us in league 1 and sort out the mess left by Robinson.

But do we trust the board not to make a lazy, easy appointment? That’s my main concern right now.

I know it’s only been three or four days but I wonder where the decision makers are at in the process ? What time lines they’re putting on applications etc. With the noose tightening on Robinson over a number of weeks you’d think that this search unofficially began 2-3 weeks ago. I would think we‘d already be at the short list stage and an appointment by the middle of next week.

I remember that torturous search over about 2 or 3 months that culminated in the appointment of Waddock, what an anti climax that was. Admittedly that was under Lenegan and not these.

You’d like to think so, but the impression I got was that the board really didn’t want to make any sort decision about Robinson until the end of the season at the earliest.

Maybe the penny finally dropped after the Cambridge game, but I somehow doubt the board were being actively proactive in a comprehensive search before then.

Ahh ok mate. I don’t have Twitter so I wouldn’t know that.

Like I said a bit more palatable than Fowler, and he’s had promotion out of Lge 1.
Definitely, that appointment would be fine by me, but I doubt we’ve even started interviews yet. Reckon a shortlist will be drawn up and interviews from next week

I would think they’d remain tight lipped until after Saturdays game. If we win then they would make a “not in any rush, looking at candidates “ press release. If we lose I’d expect them to start talking about timelines.

Tiger took two months to hire Robinson. He's involved in this process.

I would have welcomed Mous taking over but in some ways him going means we take a wider, proper look as opposed to just assuming he’d be the right man. I’m a bit bewildered by people against Fowler on the basis he’s mates with and coached under Robinson, yet Mous‘s only coaching experience comes under Robinson - of whom he spoke glowingly of earlier this week, saying what he learnt etc. It’s fickle to say the least that one appears scarred by his KR connection but the other seen as a saviour and the latter one worked with him day in day out.

Yes, he’s doing well currently at Pompey but he’ll need a fast start there next season to survive. He’d likely have been given much more time here to build something.
