No one was shocked KR was sacked, well maybe shocked that the board finally grew a pair.

Wigan's owner like a lot of owners at the big clubs would of sacked Karl in October. We have a very loyal board/owners and that should be a huge attraction to any new manager coming in.

Kolo Toure was sacked after 2 months in charge at Wigan after Leam aswell. That just shows the owner/board they have.
Working well for them, by the look of their league position...

From the list any one of Appleton, Critchely or Richardson. I think Sarge may have mentioned Simmo before, he wouldn't be a bad shout. Coached England U21's, so might have some good contacts in the game.

All this speculation it’s absolute bollox. Just ask Egg he knows the latest

I'm quite pro Simpson aswell for the reasons given. Think Gerrard is GK coach there which would be an upgrade on our current position.

Think the club might go down the younger, up and coming route tho.

Exactly. That's why out of all the names that have been suggested Leam is my first choice. Like someone else posted the Wigan side we played at theirs where we scored that great team goal absolute battered us in the second half and coming away with a point felt like we robbed them. They were as impressive as that Blackpool side that destroyed us in the play offs.

IF Wilder could be persuaded, he'd have to be up there! Has experience of turning a L1 club into a top 30 club, and doing it quickly.

Has worked with misfit squads, and got the best out of players. Decent tactician too, with good attention to detail.

Would he leave us the moment a better offer came in... possibly / probably. But he'll be looking to re-assert his reputation a bit - could the temptation of turning us around and taking us up possibly draw him in? Maybe (with cash). Potentially win-win; but also high-risk as a L1 relegation would not look great!

Do you really need me to ?

To compare her to Phil Neville is about as absurd as it gets. I can’t be arsed to explain, google her then google Neville and if you can’t work it out for yourself then, well, forget it.

You genuinely think she might be the best bet to get us to the Championship ?
If you can’t be bothered to back up your aggressive dismissal then maybe a forum isn’t for you? Telling people to ‘work it out’ instead of giving the reasons yourself is a cop out.

You could have said something like ‘I’m not sure her experience in the women’s game will directly translate to a side that needs results quickly in the men’s game to stay up’ and I’d have at least taken your opinion a bit more seriously.

But to dismiss a very successful manager and say it’s a ‘P**s take’ is very telling. Not just to say ‘maybe not’, but instead actively trying to dismiss it like someone suggested we bring back Darren Patterson. I’ll let other people join the dots up on your reasons behind such a visceral reaction, seeing as you’re a fan of people working things out for themselves.

We need an intelligent, eloquent, modern thinking, young-ish manager in the mould of someone like Eddie Howe. Liked how the Rotherham manager (?) sounded compared to KR in the podcast series.
I don’t think I could take someone blathering on mindlessly and regardless of a win/defeat/draw.

In no particular order Dennis Kutrieb, Luke Garrard, and Des Buckingham are all the type of young progressive managers that we should look at to work under a D of F. All have had success in different environments, bring through young players, and play an attractive brand of football. I'd suspect all would jump at the chance to manage Oxford United.

That's not an exhaustive list, and I think we might need a Red Adair in for this season first.
Spot on a new DOF and an exciting new coach would be great in the summer but a massive risk in our current state.
