National News Boris Johnson - Ousted Former PM

BLOODY COMMUNISTS....

Junior Barristers are just that, learning on the job by working hard the same as a bloke in a factory.

Once they "learn or burn" they`ll be coining it in, unlike the bloke in the factory.

Who was it wanted a redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor? 🤷‍♀️

With the exception of the 40% who leave because the conditions are so crap.

Another poor attempt to create a "them and us" wedge issue.

Not at all its a fact of life, when you are a "junior" you get all the crappy jobs and learn.
Doesn`t matter if that is as a junior doctor, junior barrister or working in a garage.
I`m sure, even in your illustrious career, you started somewhere and it wasn`t as CEO!
The "problem" these days is everyone walks out of Uni with a degree in something vacuous and thinks they deserve to go in halfway up the ladder.
Sorry -life check time. ;)

I essexworld...yes[emoji23]

Apart from those obtained through the University of Life of course[emoji6]

Well, the majority (sorry its that word again)........ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-49841620

The point is when you start work you learn on the job or University of Life as some like it to be called.

Generally, that means the dull, repetitive, simple chores and making the tea.

Was University better when only the best of the best went? *

That is a whole different thread.

Plenty of jobs require a degree to get on the ladder. Mine did, bar the very rare employer sponsoring an employee and then they'd have to do a a couple of years extra study with the professional body to get to the point we started at.

Junior barristers work extremely hard.
A friend of mine got a law degree in 1976. Seven years without a holiday. Took silk at 44 and now heading to retirement at 67 as a deputy high court judge.
I would be surprised if he earns less than ÂŁ500000pa as a commercial lawyer. Lives in Fulham but hails from Oxford.
A nicer person you couldn’t meet, with a strong work ethic.
I am sure there are plenty of people who envy him his success and think he should pay more tax, but I for one don’t.

Exactly! Yes there is some "pain" but if you make it the rewards are great, its almost like a reverse football career!

If Universities should only be for the privileged and not for “everyone” are they really producing the best of the best?

But they are 'not making the tea' they are representing people in court. Can you see the slight difference there? 🤔

They are learning on the job. Making the tea is metaphorical.

Would you rather have a junior barrister (cheap) or an experienced QC (expensive) - there shouldn`t be a price on justice but there is.

Same as a hip replacement - wait for the NHS or pay for the op?

Its life.

I'm not sure you really understand why they're taking industrial action in the first place do you?

I can see you are trying to hit new lows with those false equivalents you love so much. Absolutely bullshit.
