Away Match Day Thread 22/02/2022 L1: Crewe Alexandra v OUFC

Wow a massive 3 points tonight. What happened at the weekend must of been playing heavily on the players minds. Really proud of each and everyone off them. Now Saturday mentally I feel will be tougher. Not just the players but us, the fans. Personally after the last 2 results and under the circumstances would a point on Saturday be a bad result? The emotion of the day is going to be off the scale.
So proud to be a OUFC

No we win for Joey. That’s what he would want, so that’s what we will do.

You really are a beacon of light, Barry!
You should know me by now, but when I posted that things didn’t look great it wasn’t the best performance tonight but a scrappy 1-0 win will do.
I don’t think we could afford to have dropped any points tonight and only 3 would do……….but guess what? WE GOT THEEE POINTS

I'll happily take a scrappy 1-0 win in the circumstances, so lovely result.

Just back and that was what I’d call a ‘dirty’ 1 nil win. Did enough to win but only really played well in the first 15 and a little bit after we scored..

Very workmanlike against a very average Crewe side.

McNally class again, not that we were under much pressure but he bought the ball out well and is so solid. White quiet, but after 3 assists on Saturday we’ll let him off. Brown looked decent when he came on.

Job done!

Why not tonight as well? First game since the news. Mark of respect.
I guess part of the respect thing is to do what the family want, and from what I read, the family agreed with a minute’s silence at the next home game, so makes sense to do it all then.

Karl Robinson shows his class and the love for this football club yet again before and after the match with what he says. I no he has split opinions in the past on weather he’s the right man for the job. This man is more than a manager. He knows the history of the club knows about are great players of the past he attends youth games women’s matches even local non league matches. He’s pretty much head of recruiting. Head spokesperson etc. Somewhere after getting appointed as manager he fell in love with are club. We’ve had better managers tactically previous years wilder, Appleton. But I wouldn’t traid anyone for him even if we was in a relegation battle because I no he would work harder than anyone to put it right again. I am very proud to have him as are manager. And while everyone at the club is mourning a club/local legend he just reminds me how lucky we are. Bit lucky today on the football side but am super proud of the club and manager atm

We do know you! And generally speaking, your posts mainly bring me down!

Just back after a pit stop in Northampton and the annoying road closures on the way home, agree that McNally, Sykes and Williams deserve credit, Brown has already surpassed the low bar of being Grayson 2.0 which is nice, as is the 3 points on a night where I thought it wasn’t going to happen for us, good away crowd too I thought

Must have been a difficult game for the players, they would all have wanted to put on a class display and a good win "for Joey". I wonder if that desire affected their approach with players trying too much to get a Beauchampesque goal and then having the disappointment of not getting reward for their efforts.

With the millstone of that first game now off their neck, hopefully they can deliver a fitting tribute on Saturday, although it is inevitable that emotions will be present in all that are there.

I’m never ever paying for that service again, problems every time. Anyway great result even though I saw about a third of it.
Were you on a VPN and it was telling you that you were not entitled to view it. I was having a similar problem recently, found that using control shift delete and deleting cookies and history, after i have rebooted laptop. Then choose a country, then log in on Chrome seems to have fixed it for me. If I use the laptop for looking at emails and the like I get banged out numerous times during the game if I don't do this. Hope it helps.
