How to complete the season

They should take the steps for the sake of clarity to go, “Next season is behind closed doors, that’s how it is - doesn’t matter if there’s a vaccine halfway through the season.” And people then know two things:

1) Streaming is the only option to see games. No ifs, no buts. That’s your one option.

2) Buying streams is the only chance to save the football club going forward.

This will make streaming successful enough to survive. There won’t be an option - it is life or death and it’s clear as day. There’s no need for anybody to sit on their hands and hope for a miracle.

I agree that this season is done, it’s supposed to finish in a couple of hours and we are where we are now, I am losing interest in how they do end it because it’s being so dragged out to it’s inevitable conclusion.

Can’t see clubs writing off the extra income of actual live attended games months in advance though, certainly not those who unlike us make decent money off of concessions etc, these are the same clubs who won’t end this season despite it being as foregone a conclusion as a fight between Anthony Joshua and Peter Crouch.

PL clubs will agree to play at neutral venues if relegation is stopped. No danger of these turkeys voting for Christmas, self-interest all the way...

So the armchair fans of premiershite football can get their fix of meaningless prancy peacock razzmatazz while the ducks are all lined up to pull the drawbridge up and keep the lower league riffraff out. Just about sums all that crap up.

Liverpool have the title sown up, so no relegation will leave an exciting battle for qualifying for European competitions that might not be able to take place as the only competitive football on offer.

Going to be thrilling watching all those dead rubbers in empty neutral stadiums, what better way to get through the worry about family dying from Covid and the economic devastation we will be coming out of lockdown to than sitting down to watch Bournemouth v Burnley play out a meaningless match.

Sad to admit, I'd watch that in the absence of any competitive games!

I probably will to begin with, like at the start of every season then I find my interest in games that don’t directly influence anything wanes.

I reckon you will get some half paced walk abouts as players won’t risk getting injured to come 12 rather than 14th.

But it’s the best league in the world! All those quality foreigners. The owners will be up for it, as finishing 12th rather than 13th gets you god knows how many million, but not many other people will. I find the relegation battle more interesting than the title race generally

I think when this has all blown through there’s going to have to be a ‘call to arms‘ to everyone who cares about the grassroots of the game. Otherwise theres going to be a Rollerball situation where the big money corporations pluck the meat off of the corpse and theres nothing left of the soul to save.

Well Sergio Aguero May not play as he quite rightly is afraid he may catch Covid-19

I’m so glad our fantastic nhs staff didn’t have his thinking

Amazing isn’t it.

So out of touch with the real world these primadona‘s

And they say footballers are kids “sporting” hero‘s who they look up to...... something seriously wrong with this world.

He doesn’t want to play, but will not take a significant pay cut either.....truly heroic.

Oh, I don’t know...I think I’d give Joshua at least SOME chance in that fight...despite Crouch’s slight reach advantage.

I'm not sure you can call someone who doesn't want to risk themselves catching a deadly disease by doing non-essential work a prima donna.

Yeah, possibly an unfair comment in that context I agree. But not in the general context of this bubble that they live in.

But for a bit of clarification on my comment, there are many stories out there about workers who feel exactly the same and as a result of their employer still operating are having to go to work or not be paid.

Seems unfair that a footballer on £300k plus p/w can continue to be paid whilst also refusing to perform their duties. They need to join the real world.

The problem surely is the employer forcing their workers to come in not any sensible person who would rather not take the risk, footballer or not

No, the problem is an employer that can still operate in a safe environment that sufficiently protects staff is expected to continue to operate and will not be able to furlough employees and obtain government help.

I appreciate employees may still be worried but that is not necessarily because the employer is being irresponsible. Employers cannot afford to pay for workers who refuse to go to work (the Covid-19 guidance covers this scenario)

I agree with your point.

There is still an increased risk of contracting the virus by going to a workplace though, however conscientious an employer is being.

Personally I'd go back to work tomorrow* if I were allowed, and I say that as someone from a slightly higher risk group - I can understand others being uneasy however.
