General Rob Dickie & Elliott Moore

Who will negotiate this massive sale?

We just sold a player with 3+ years on his contract that had the highest ceiling of anyone in the oxford squad for a reported 2mill (plus some add on apparently)...what chance of getting big money for a centre back with 1 year left when players like konsa, Clarke and Pinnock moves for a few mill each?

Few million? Villa paid 12 million for Ezri Konsa! Admittedly, he'd already proven himself in the Championship at the time.
Pinnock was reportedly 3 million but he a) was 26 at the time, and b) was moving to the Championship, not the Premier League

Matt Clarke is probably the best comparable though. About the same age, moving directly from League One to the Prem, one year left on his deal.
His transfer fee was supposedly 3.5m up front, rising to 5m upon hitting certain milestones. That should be what we're expecting if indeed a PL team is in for Dickie.

We'll be offered about 2 million.
Whether we take it is the more prescient question...

And we’d happily take 1.5 instant cash with a little add on or two included... It’s the Ox way. Expect the same for Cam, too...
Yep, quite likely!
The question is how do the board reckon they are going to keep many of the disgruntled season ticket holders happy and attract new supporters if they keep selling off the best players every season? A few thousand will always attend come what may but the board will soon start crowing if the attendances drop down to 5 thousand or so due to poor results or a seemingly lack of ambition.

If any club bids more than a million quid for Dickie they’ve lost their minds - once the 12 month countdown starts in June we are over a barrel. Lundstram went for 500k with a year left on his deal; Ledson was around 750k once his final year arrived and Nelson walked for nothing after both of those. That won’t be risked again, so it’s very much a buyer’s market when it comes to our players, especially those in their final year.

If we get more than £2m combined for Dickie and Brannagan I’ll be surprised.

A player who has had three major injuries by the age of 21. Pretty sure that was factored into it.

I see your point. OK, imagine Southampton or whoever offer 750,000. Do we take it or let him work down the last year of his contract?

Seriously?
This is arguably our second best season in the last 15.
We got 5000 in the Conference.
I believe that we have decent supporters who will support the club (maybe I overestimate Oxford supporters, but I reckon you underestimate them)

I reckon the fact that Baptiste had 3 major injuries affected his price.
He has the highest ceiling but I suspect that the add ons are based on him.playing games and he usnt badly injured again.
Hopefully if Southampton AND Burnley are interested there will be a bit of an auction.

You need to read the post I was answering.
It was with reference to next season if we sold our best players.

Bang On The Money.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread, Matt Clarke was sold by Pompey to Brighton last summer.

22-year old Centre Back. Too good for League One, but barely played at a higher level. And, crucially, only one year left on his deal.

3.5m, possibly rising to 5m, was the fee.

Premier League teams have money burning holes in their pockets. If there's genuinely more than one PL team in the mix for Dickie then the Matt Clarke deal should be the baseline. If that is the case, and our board take less than that, then they're morons.

And whilst I think it's fair to question their ambition, I don't think it's necessarily fair to question their intelligence......

Ask Dickie if he could do us a favour and sign a 4yr contract before he gets sold ??

I wouldn't be at all surprised if deals hadnt already been agreed, or well on the way to being, with both Dickie and Brannagan and respective clubs. I was surprised we didnt get offers for them in January but, thinking about it, interested clubs wouldve known the contract situations and know that a much favourable deal would be possible when they enter the final 12 months of their current deals. Its not unfair to start thinking that the trajectory of the clubs current ambitions don’t match that of the players so new deals will be out of the question. As others have said, with Dickie‘s contract winding down we’ll do well to get 750k for him. Possibly £1M for Bran.

Dickie signed a 2 year extension to his contract in July last year.
