Regarding formation and not conceding I posted something similar in the Tyler Smith thread earlier.


It’s not how I want to play the game, but needs must.

To my mind 3/5/2 and 5/3/2 is basically the same. The former when you have the ball and attacking, the latter when the opposition have the ball and we’re defending.

Also without a specialist DCM we can’t continue with 4-3-3 and expect different results.

With the players available we simply need a pattern of play/formation that will make us more difficult to beat and build from there. Confidence is a fragile thing and needs rebuilding quickly, we’re in a relegation battle, keep it simple for the players, don’t over complicate things needlessly.

Whether the front two is Wildschut and Joseph or Baldock and Smith, and/or O’Donkor, what it is does do is to have options on the bench to bring on fresh legs within the same formation If necessary.

Totally agree, we share the same opinion on all of that!

Then he takes Findlay out and puts Fleming in and Fleming has been terrible

Need to go back to that line up and we played tough teams in that 9 games unbeaten

Rovers player Aaron Collins has the most goal contributions in League One this season (14 goals, 10 assists), so we need to come up with a plan to nullify that threat (I know, Robinson and tactics - we can dream).

For reference our top league scorer Brannagan has 8 goals (+0 assists), and our top assister Bodin has 4 assists (+4 goals). Just shows how poor we have been going forward and the lack of creativity in the team this year, not something you typically associate with KR teams. The worst thing is, it's not like we've been watertight at the back at the expense of this attacking flair, we've just regressed in all departments.

Seeing the front two of Constable and Midson made me think about the Conference playoff final side and wonder how they‘d fair against the side Robinson started at Cambridge?

Think I'll actually go Saturday. Not because I don't want KR gone, not because I think we'll win or miraculously turn our performances around. But because I really don't want us to get relegated and want to support the team in any way I can to stop that happening.

A must win game against a side we usually struggle against, what could go wrong…

I’d go 352 with Fleming and Tyler as wing backs and play Smith and Joseph up top together.

What ever happens we need the players to put a shift in for 90 minutes rather than just 30-45 minutes.

After asking for a back 3 recently I now feel it's time for a back 4 (and shows why I've never endeavoured into football management). I'd go for :

Long more findlay brown
Brannagan bate mcguane
Goodrham Joseph browne

GOD after 60 or so mins for whoevers playing worse out of the front 3. If Goodrham isn't ready then Bodin if he is, or if not wildschut, anyone but Murphy and I'm happy. Also Fleming definately needs a rest and once Karl is finished across in the continent he needs to make it up with Findlay

However I expect him to keep a back 3 and start Murphy, so there goes the 3 points

Only question mark is what combination of GO'D, Joseph and Wildschut start up top, but I'd look to use all 3 over the course of the 90 minutes.

Not how it works. You have to choose 1 and another random one and replace the 2 you sent in after 62 minutes. Tsk.
