Away Match Day Thread +++ 15/09/2018 Wycombe W v OUFC match day thread +++

Hope Robinson was taking notes on our weaknesses when Akinfenwa came on because he showed exactly what we struggle with. Physical strikers who put themselves about. Robinson needs to find away to counter this.

Also as much as i dislike the blokes football fairplay to Ainsworth applauded and shook every Oxford players hand as they left the pitch.

Wycombe is such a s**t place. One entrance/exit, an hour to get out of the f*****g car park. A team that play anti-football, a manager that needs to shut the f**k up.
Thank god that's over.

Ainsworth is actually a decent bloke, and has done a great job there in getting the best out of his resources. Hurts to say but true.

Wasn’t at the game but sounds to me that the players and still putting in a shift for KR so to say he’s under pressure is rediculous......I’ve said it before but people need to think back to Appleton’s first few months in charge.

I heard somewhere that he actually applied to takeover as the manager when Clotet was sacked. To be fair to him he has done a fantastic job with what is probably the smallest budget in the league.

That's enough Ainsworth compliments from me for the next year

Well that was one of the best 0-0 I’ve seen for a while, fans and players gave 100% the officials poor yet again, just need to stick the ball in the back of the net.

We were super for long periods until Wycombe decided to switch sports and bring the hammer throwers on.
Typical Ainsworth tactics - load the box , hoof it long and diagonally to the big man and and get on the seconds.

The last 15 minutes was tough to watch but in the main Oxford played all the football and did more than enough to win
the game. Best away performance under Robinson I would say (better than Sunderland all things considered.)

I am sure we will climb the table soon.

Enjoyed being treated like cattle when the game had ended. There ground is somehow in a worse location then ours, in the middle of an industrial estate. There ground is also somehow worse then ours apart from the away end. The stand where the players come out looks like something you get in the isthmian division.

Watched the match in the two tier stand; Wycombe fans thought we were dirty cheats; especially Mous. So be it. Good to see a less naive performanice, the keeper did well today.

Thought our finishing was appalling though, where is the calmness in front of goal?
Obika did better than Smith while youngsters were out best performers. Again.

Thought we were far better than them technically but we lack snap and strength in the tackle.

A word for Ruffels ; a very sound performance again.

Enjoyed the game; reasonable atmosphere. They put on a decent show - for a non league team.?

Don’t know why they had it in for Mousinho - he had a fine game and did little wrong.

One thing we noticed was the absolutely brilliant playing surface - it was like a bowling green but Wycombe
seem averse to playing football on it!

Sounds remarkably like us sadly. Here's to the strength and pride of the Ox we once new.

I conceed the anti football, not that it does us much good. But we're principle by nature.

I loved the display in the air. Not the heading of the ball, but the airshow with that/those jets. Great fight in the middle - surprised no-one was sent off. They are tough guys, aren't they, that Why Cum team - wish we were. Akinfenwa is a monster - wish we had one. KR should take up boxing. Great away support. Love Baptiste. (Phil) Mitchell was good today. Overall: good effort from our lads today. We need a bully-boy scoring machine.

Addendum: oh no it’s the sour grapes bunch - it seems that Robinson moans about the ref every week; it’s getting very tiresome.

Actually thought the ref did ok today; lots of diving by both sides.

“Anti-football” - what a load of B*****s, there’s plenty of different ways of playing football depending on the quality of player you have that is available to you.

Perhaps If our manager was more open to playing a different way we’d not be in the position we are at the moment.

There’s nothing wrong with getting the ball forward early if it creates chances and gets you points which more often than not over the last few seasons it has done for Wycombe.

Of course we would all love to play really attractive football but not at the expense of winning games (currently we do neither of these things)

Yes they played well today and probably should have done but the fact they performed better than they have done recently and still didn’t win against an average side gives me more worries than it does positives.

The sooner Robinson takes some accountability for not winning the game (“I can’t put the ball in the bet” and blaming the ref as usual today) the team will not start moving up the table.

Yes, I don’t mind the physical direct chunky sides, it’s the cynical cheats like Fleetwood I can’t stand

Wow

Wow. Slagging off the team after today...
Are you say if that we didn't play attractive football today really?
Whyte Baptiste Holmes Nelson?
Really?
