Two poor sides playing out a poor game.

We should have won but were also lucky not to have lost.

I don't quite understand the flack McGuane is copping. I thought he was our best our best outfield player today. He always shows for the ball and tries to play, yes sometimes he overplays or loses it, but I'd rather that than someone who hides. It doesn't help that there is next to no movement in front of him.

I have yet to read though this thread but how are we going to score in open play at the moment …….

McGuane flatters to deceive a lot of the time for me. More often than not he picks the ball up very deep, does a flashy Cruyff turn or something similar, and then passes it to one of the full backs. He seldom actually does anything with the ball when he has it. He has (perhaps had?) the skill and power to run forward with the ball but he almost never does. Part of the problem, imo, is that he's not a defensive/deep/holding midfielder. He needs to play 20 yards further forward where he can receive the ball on the half-turn and run at the opposition in more dangerous areas. Hopefully Manning sees this and addresses it or we may never see McGuane realise his potential.

He does drive with it. But when does there’s no runners or options ahead of him, same with Brannagan. They then have to turn and play it simple or run down a blind alley.

One player I think deserved a shout out for this weekend’s fixtures is Findlay for me. His distribution at times today was poor today, but in terms of defence, he is immense. Negru also was strong today too.

I always think with Findlay that he must be a decent defender because he was never making it as far as he has as a pro footballer on his passing, he is the worst short passer of a football I have ever seen and I played Sunday league, he can put a 10 yard pass out of play and miss the player he was trying to pass to by 15 yards.

Was wondering what manning said after the match. Anyone hear it?

Over 2,000 made it to MK Dons and I dare say 30,000+ would have gone to Wembley if we’d have got there this season. Tough Financial Times do not seem to be an issue for the more glamorous or local of fixtures.
I don't understand your point, it's generally cheaper to get to more local games and yes people will obviously push the boat out and go to once in a blue moon generational games at Wembley.

I have to blame Manning for the mindset of the players. They seem to be so risk averse that all passes are safe ie not progressive. You can’t score goals like that. Why Smyth and Goodrham aren’t more involved I find worrying and yet wildschut is??
