Moore, Findlay and Long were all solid at the back, although Long's distribution wasn't great in the first half.

That performance was just about as perfect a summary of Sam Long as you could get in 90 minutes.

Hopeless passing and woeful positional sense, punctuated by some determined full-blooded challenges and decent marauding runs.

Oh, and one final point. Please can we avoid using words like bint and bitch to describe female commentators and the ref. It's really unnecessary!!
At the time I labelled the ref a “ bitch “ just the same as I would have called the male ref a c**t or t**t . Basically nothing to do with their gender just because of their incompetence . Overall I think the ref was ok , we’ve certainly had worse . Good luck to her

A disjointed squad, but now playing with some purpose and clarity that was distinctly missing before. What a difference that makes. Scoring goals is going to be our biggest issue, but most the players are at least putting a real shift in. Going to go to the wire one thinks, but at least we have some hope which we didn’t before.

I haven't read the whole thread but if that's true then I'm f*#king ashamed. Judge them on their performance - fair enough - but what difference does it make if it's Trevor or Tracy Kettle?

Would you be happy with your wife or daughter being called a bitch for making a mistake at work? Personally, it doesn't sit right with me and I'm not sure there's any place for it.

She wasn't the greatest referee I've ever seen, but was a long way from being the worst. That may have come across differently on TV than live, but I certainly didn't come away from the game thinking bitch, c**t or t**t were appropriate.

I heard one comment from a fan behind me in the first half shouting something along the lines of should have stayed in the kitchen, only said it once and obviously realised his error or was told to shut up by his mates. She may have made mistakes but we've seen many male referees who were far worse on multiple occasions.

Also I thought Murphy did okay today, first half we were clearly doing a containment job and thought he helped out defensively very well which obviously meant he wasn't always the outlet many expected. I think he's an easy target given his history this season but think he deserves a clean start and judge him on the here and now.

I was giving an opinion in the heat of battle, at the time was big enough to say at the end of 90 mins that she did well , I stand by that a few hours later

Let's be straight, you weren't giving an opinion. You were calling a woman a bitch for not giving a penalty. It may well have been more emotive on the pitch, but I suspect you were watching from your living room sofa so I don't buy the "heat of battle" line.

But you're happy to stand by that and I suspect that nothing I say will change your view. Shame.

Well, I think it was a very entertaining game. 2nd half more so than the first. Great effort by all. Nobody went into hiding. Well pleased.

As for the ref?

Good to see equality on show. But it was Confirmation that poor decisions can be made by any gender…no matter how one ‘identifies’ IMHO a mid table performance from the lady/she/her/woteva.

Haven't read the rest but encouraged by that performance and thought a win wouldn't have been undeserved.

Motm for me was Marcus Browne. I thought he gave us energy and direction in attack in the 2nd half. Plus nice to see him putting in full bodied challenges. Certainly Sheff Wed were scared of him considering they tried to foul him every time he got passed them. If he plays like that for the rest of the season then we'll be a lot more dangerous going forward.

Marcus McGuane can be frustrating, at one time he was challenging John Trewick for the title of "The Crab" then when he mixes it up and also focuses on going forward he looks twice the player. A couple of marauding runs through the middle were excellent.

I think GO'D showed his inexperience with that chance when he shot rather than passed to Joseph. But it was a good run before that.

Definitely encouraged.

One negative, chanting "What a waste of money" at Josh Murphy after a misplaced pass is moronic. They didn't stir at misplaced passes by others. Now is the time to support all players for the remainder of the season when they are pulling together on the pitch.

Yep I was watching from my sofa , no shame from me sir now f**k off

I totally disagree that Eastwood was shaky, those first two back passes were un-necessary and the ball was bobbling a fair bit for them so not sure what he was expected to do.. Still the best keeper at the club as he proved again today.
Be a look at the Port Vale forum and read their summary of Jack Stevens. It's not great reading.

Agreed on Murphy. The cross by him in the 2nd half was almost an absolute beauty. A smidge slower or Joseph reading it a bit quicker and we'd have levelled then.

I think it's not right to call anyone obscene names, male or female
But no one gets shouted down when a male ref gets nasty remark

Police won’t March home fans through away fans
The ones I saw in a police bubble were behind the East Stand and were singing Oxford songs. Also their mates in the leaving Oxford crowd were egging them on so those ones were definitely Oxford.
I suspect they’d gone round the far end to pavement dance the exiting Wednesday fans and the Police sorted them out thankfully.
