This is, again, questionable PR from Robbo... If you've been told to make do, why not just back what you have, in Obika, Smith and Mackie (yes... I know)... Instead of adding the caveat that you thought Maynard could score goals or that you disagreed with Tiger... He does have a flappy jaw does Robinson. Fool to himself.
And I can see that being a big part of his downfall

He's scored more league goals than Sam Smith and Jamie Mackie this season.......................................
Unfortunately I think that will be seen as a reason to maintain faith in him for a few more weeks. I’d like to bet, however, that Smith will eventually score far more.

I agree, Smith will likely turn out better. But, it does highlight how largely ineffectual the lone striker has been in front of goal for us this season when Obika is the leading scorer with 1 goal.

It just seems to me that we are playing a 'false number 9' - whether we are meaning to or not is another matter. The formation we play just does not seem to get the lone striker involved at all. It does quite excite me that we have a number of players who play just behind the striker who can all create and score goals (Whyte, Henry, Holmes, Browne), but I just can't get my head around how utterly isolated and out of the game our main striker has been, in pretty much every single game we have played. Sooner or later we need to change the formation, surely?
given this why does KR think Maynard wold score loads of goals? i cant see how it would be any different to playing Mackie or Beaker

I apologise kids, but KR is full of bull****.

He's been given a top 10 budget and the opportunity to sign his players, and thus far he's failed to put together a balanced team.

How he 'knows' Maynard will score loads of goals is beyond me...0 in 18 games for Aberdeen and he hasn't been prolific for the last 8 injury-prone years. That would be exactly the kind of signing we don't need - another 'big time' player, over 30, unfit and out of form. I am seriously starting to question KRs judgement.

Tiger is right; and there's little point providing more resources to a manager who has us sitting in the relegation places.

Sam Smith reminds me a bit of Agon Mehmeti at the moment - runs around a lot, and *looks like* a footballer, but hasn't really done anything. I'm sure I'll be proved wrong soon!

As things stand at the moment I’ll be pleasantly surprised if any of the three end the season in double figures unfortunately. The worrying thing is that Robinson must be of the same opinion or else he wouldn’t be trying to persuade his boss into letting him bring in another one.

I'm beginning to think that's debateable.

I'm not sure how Robinson can complain. He plays 1 up front and we have 3 strikers competing for that position. Robinson signed 2 of the 3.

They may not have been first choice and there are clear questions about the budget, but he has signed a lot of these players that aren't YET performing.
Not sure Mackie was brought in as a striker tho? So only two really.

Fair enough, I’m no expert. But Smith has really done very little so far
Sorry, bored and fed up of all the negativity tbh. Just looking into Smith a bit deeper as don’t think he’s had enough time or enough consistency in being played.
It looks like he’s only played 479 minutes (5 games +29mins) and scored 1 goal.
And only 4 starts (pos full apps) but also you could take into consideration our opponents in these games and how poorly the rest of the team played in those matches.
Think I’d rather he’d started the season as first choice and was played every game even if he didn’t score just for consistency sake.

Yes, agree, but you could say the same about Mehmdti, he was never really fit and hardly played. Hopefully Smith will come good

Stunning isn't it. If Mackie is out, it will be very interesting over the next week or so to see if Tiger will support KR - I would imagine a lot is riding on Saturday's game.
