OUFC Women: 2023/24 Season

Devs won 3-0 yesterday v Maidenhead. Now 10 points clear at top of league with 4 games left (and 2 of those are v 2nd bottom Sudbury).

Should be a done deal then. Is there any progression in terms of moving to a stronger league for next year?

should be. good follow up to the double last season.
don't know enough about the league structure to understand where they could go. Because the 1st team are in the The FA Women's National League (Southern Premier) the FAWNL Reserve South East and Central league is the normal one. Potentially the Reserve Midland league is tougher, more "big" league teams sides in there (Derby, Stoke, Wolves, Peterborough, Lincoln) but that would need much more travelling (Doncaster is the furthest I think).

Nice positive story, waiting to see it in the Oxford Fail, could be waiting a while
That is fantastic. Can somebody who has an email to the Oxford Mail writers send the link to them and ask where their take on this is? This should be front page.

What a fantastic club we have.

have tweeted @OxMailLiamRice
is he still there? Robert Folker has been doing the sports pages / OUFC info of late - as well as anti-stadium/ pro FoSB 'news' items on the OM front page

yes, think he has been on holiday.

1st team are away at Billericay on Sunday (next home game 21st April)
Devs are away at London Seaward Reserves on Sunday and could (I think) confirm the title if they win and MK don't beat Billericay.

I tweeted the Oxford Mail when they did a 2023 review of OUFC and never mentioned the Women's team once despite a 2nd place finish on the final day, no response.

Saying the club itself treat the women's team poorly and as for the Devs they may as well not exist for the lack of coverage they receive.

Considering we currently get the bare minimum when it comes to the men’s 1st team communication then it shouldn’t come as a surprise the women’s team get virtually nothing.
The sooner the club get the communication side of the club in order, the better.

The women's first team won 2-0 at Billericay this afternoon. Shaunna Jenkins and Lacy-Jai Liggett with the goals.

The women's dev team clinched the title of the Reserve South East & Central Division. They beat London Seaward Reserves 2-0. With 3 games to go they are still unbeaten.

Next two Women's games:
21/4 v MK Dons at Court Place Farm - 2pm - League (last home league game)
28/4 v Oxford City at Court Place Farm - 3:30pm - Oxfordshire Womens FA Cup

Next two Dev games:
7/4 v MK Dons Devs at OUFC Training Ground - 2pm - League
20/4 v Bournmouth Devs at Broadhurst Park Stadium, Manchester (FC United's ground) - 4pm - WNL Reserve Cup Final
Big game for the devs to potentially do the double. AFCB are leading the WNL Reserves South West division (U's are in the South East and Central) and have lost once this season, U's haven't lost yet).

I assume the ground for the final was selected before the season started? Otherwise they should have been able to find a ground between both clubs, or at least a lot nearer, to encourage more attendance and less travelling cost/time for the players.

can only imagine so.

Now we have the new media guy who does seem to be much more active on social media, it would be good if he gave more coverage to the women’s and U18’s teams.
Any success within the club should be celebrated but barely anything at all other than the men’s 1st team.
If the club really want to make a difference in the community they will highlight all aspects of the club.

Devs completed the double for the second season running today, 4-3 victory over Bournemouth in the Reserve Cup final after trailing 3-2.

No mention whatsoever on the clubs website
