Away Match Day Thread 16/11/2021 FA Cup 1st R. Replay: Bristol Rovers v OUFC

Wasn’t t there.
But rad ox said we were in the process of changing to a back four, when they got their 2nd.

Correct they did say that. Exact same thing happened in the home fixture when we tried sitting on the lead.

Ridiculous comments, obviously a shocker but not really grounds for Karl to be sacked and the players hung, drawn and quartered is it?
Full strength Wycombe lost at home to Hartlepool, its not just us that had a mare.

But what is your take on tonight then? “ unlucky lads you played well but….. “ be honest it was P**s poor in the 2nd half of addd time and we embarrassed ourselves.

No Baz, we didn’t play particularly well tonight. Were we the better team over 90 minutes? I’d say we shaded it.
First half of ET? I’d say we battered them.
2nd half of ET? we capitulated.

FWIW i felt we let ourselves down more in the first game by not seeing it out. We should have avoided the replay.

This is cup football and upsets happen. Will you give a cows cnut if we win promotion? I highly doubt it.

Will you be offering up anything constructive to this forum? I highly doubt that, too.

I may have made a knee jerk reaction, but to lose in that manner is bloody unbelievable. Even without certain players, that 11 on the pitch was easily good enough to win that game in the last 15 minutes. So to ship three goals in, in such quick succession is bloody crazy. I feel for the fans that travelled.

We’re all getting leaky nipples over a bloody second round FA Cup game, in which we played a second strong side, simply because we want to beat Wigan at the weekend; in a game that actually matters! Losing is never good, but of the two, I know which one i’d rather lose..
Indeed.. haven't followed Oxford for over 40 yrs to be surprised by these kind of results. But are we becoming the victim of smaller squads perhaps.

But at 3:1.... every one was happy
But it didn’t finish 3-1 did it
Wigan can't beat Solihull..in 90..can't be good enough for the championship
so can you tell me from the games you’ve seen us this season we can finish teams off, see games out, we simply can’t and don’t seem to be learning….. Hope I’m proved wrong

Some comments on here are pathetic
What the hell do you expect people to say??????? Total and utter shambles. We were 1-3 up and comfortable. No ambition shown in the last part of the game. Can't wait to see who he attributes the fault to lie with. A team from the next division down showed guts and determination, and wanted it.
No challenging to stop them in the box, they walk through and score.

There is no hiding place for kr tonight.

As for the defence, you do feel we need a third experienced CB because it's a tall order relying on Mous who's basically a player manager and McNally who's having his first season in England.

I mean, we have four experienced League One-quality defenders in our squad. They're all decent players, but that's it.
McNally could one day be that, and Mousinho used to be that, but neither are today. We don't have any other full backs, just solid pros doing their best out-of-position.

It's been said a billion times on here already this season, but it's an absurdly lopsided squad that KR has put together this season. He's actually been incredibly lucky with injuries so far - other than Sam Long's initial absence, they've all been in areas of the pitch where we do have cover. If anything had happened to Matty Taylor, Moore, Thornily or Seddon in the weeks after the transfer window shut, we would have been royally screwed.

But if he doesn't balance it out in January, he's playing with fire in the worst way.

damn phone is white hot ... Iknow quite a few gasheads! and they're all messaging me

One of the worst 15 minutes I can remember and just hope psychologically the players, especially Eastwood, bounce back Sat with a result .
All about the League now which let's face it is what matters .
January we need strengthening but that was worrying.

Are they though? - I’ll spell it out mate, we ain’t good enough for the championship especially with this current defence

Yeah, yeah they are unbelievable. All the noise wasn’t around during the 6 game undefeated run before tonight. Some need to get a bit of perspective.

KR tried a new system with fringe players getting game time and in the end, it didn’t work.

I dare say that KR will have learnt a little about some players tonight. With January 6 weeks away, it isn’t necessarily a bad lesson to learn.

Why not try Hanson in the position he is supposed to be a specialist in ie DM?!🤣🤣

Well we do seem to be improving in that department (until tonight!) I thought we defender very well on Saturday and Easty barely had a save to make against an Ipswich team who will deffo be top 6.
