Away Match Day Thread +++ 15/09/2018 Wycombe W v OUFC match day thread +++

If this was following the Sunderland game, we’d be quite excited. Since it’s following the disappointment of the Coventry game, we’re dreading it.

Remember that whilst we were off colour against Coventry, we weren’t appalling. There were some passages that worked and my feeling was that it was an off day for just too many last Sunday. I’m expecting and we’re all requiring better today.

First visit to Adams Park in years. Nice to visit a non-League ground every now and again!

0-1, Smith. COYY

Luton assistant manager Paul Hart on Wycombe and their tactics.

It was a 1-1 draw at Adams Park a couple of weeks ago.

It's obvious what there game plan is going to be, there 2 strikers Mackail Smith and Akinfenwa have a combined age of 70. They will not play nice football it'll be up to the big man and flick one for willing runners.

This Wycombe team is full of experienced pros so like Ainsworth will no all the tricks. What we need to do is exactly what we didn't do against Coventry, Keep the ball down and get it outwide, when they hoof it up in the air bring it down and get it outwide.

0-2
Mackie and Garbutt

Think Garbutt was a bright spark when we played Coventry and I think Dickie needs to come in as this is going to be an aerial bombardment and he is very good in the air .
Can't get it out wide on a narrow pitch Ainsworth keeps the pitch as narrow as possible.

Plenty of experience:

‘Bayo Akinfenwa - 36
Nathan Tyson - 36
Sam Saunders - 35
Craig Mackail-Smith - 34
Matt Bloomfield - 34
Adam El- Abd - 34
Marcus Bean - 33
Sido Jombati - 31
Joe Jacobson - 31
Darius Charles - 30

Didn't Gazza Ainsworth apply for the vacant OUFC job? Say what you want about the lad, he got promotion last season (when the Cowley Bros & Tisdale didn't) and his budget is probably half of what KR has at his disposal. He certainly gets value for money out of his team.

Are KR & Derry actually in the dugout for this one? As others have mentioned, they'll need to ignore Ainsworth's touchline antics although I can see them walking straight into his trap(s)...

We'll need to play with a similar tempo & intensity as Sunderland to get the M40 bragging rights today. I'm going for 1-1. COYY!

M40 bragging rights? Really?

Our performance today will be more Sunderland away than Coventry home, except we will have put the game to bed by half time. 4-0 yellows.

Looking forward to the game today would be great to come away with the points.
3-0 to the u’s

Can only see another defeat today to be honest. 2 nil Wycombe.
Of course you can. You don't have to state the obvious.

Depends which Oxford turn up, all I do know is that Wycombe will adopt their usual cheap and nasty tactics which we need to be able to play past. We're a much better footballing team than them but we need to handle the physicality and if we don't then we'll lose.

Under Ainsworth, Wycombe are renowned for playing anti football... exactly the sort of game that under KR OUFC tend to not fancy.... to counter pikey-boys tactics will be 1800 loud n proud yellows, ....a tight, scrappy game with a late, late winner giving the U's a needed 1-2 away win, Browne & Whyte with a goal apiece

Afternoon all!

Hopefully bounce back today after last weeks disappointment. Draw absolute minimum required, but i think we might get the win. 2-1 Whyte and Obika

Prediction from me.

Half time entertainment will be a short lecture on Proust’s ‘À la recherche du temps perdu’ and the thematic symbolism of the novel that is reflected in French society today.

It will be delivered by noted Wycombe resident @dannyc.

Get at them early on and tire them out. Pace and fitness will win the day.
2-0 to us
