I believe Tiger was planning on going home today.
He was playing a major role in the selection of the new manager and part of the interviews
Did he also play the major role in when (timing) Karl was sacked? If so, I’m concerned about the new manager decision.

My greatest concern over the manager selection process is that the same individuals who failed to sack Robinson in good time, are the same choosing the next manager.
I sincerely hope that they have learnt something from their experiences and apply that to the interviews and final selection.
I was reassured from the meeting with T Williams that the recruitment aspect for players and recruitment staff was to be far more data driven and not left in the sole possesion of a head coach and his mobile. Lets hope that process has also been applied to the new head coach.

To be fair to Tiger, Robinson was a good, very good, appointment at the time and for the best part of his tenure he remained that. Based on that I don’t have any great concern with him being part of the process - I think we’d all be happy with a similar appointment this time around given Robinson‘s reputation five years ago.

With some of the bizarre names being banded around back then, Robinson was a far more sensible and pragmatic choice. It’s really hard to say that now, considering the utter shambles we descended to before he left…

So, yep, I’m cautiously optimistic that they will make a sensible choice.

Unfortunately to have people running the show who are basically ‘learning on the job’ isn’t a great situation to be in.

I think we can argue for ever about the timing of KR’s sacking. It’s a basket case club that sacks a manager after 3 defeats, even 4 or 5 defeats with a draw amongst them could be seen as a touch harsh. Perhaps he went on a game or two too far (I think he should have gone after Cambridge) but I don’t think the board got it as wildly wrong as some are making out. Hindsight and all that ….

I was surprised at the relatively downbeat responses of the pundits on Wasn’t At The Game when discussing Appleton’s possible return. To a man, they were not in favour.

Like I said the other day, I have a feeling it will be between Manning & Appleton. I suspect we will see some proper movement in the betting odds over the next few days. A decision will be made by Wednesday with contracts written up Wednesday/Thursday and an announcement made by Friday. The new manager will be in the stands for Saturday imo, then at least he’s got a week to work with the players before morecambe away and the home game to Cheltenham. 2 massive games that will decide our league 1 future for me, 6 points from those two games and we will be well on the way to safety.

I’d love them to announce Appleton tomorrow so we can get on with packing out the stadium for the Derby game and completely changing the narrative from ‘god we need some points’ to ‘homecoming party’ - in a game where our current form makes it look almost unfathomable we’ll get a result without something to totally galvanise the club…

Yep I agree with this timeline, and think McCann in the mix too. Cannot understand why there isn’t more urgency

I think the new manager should install three rules:
Rule 1 : the players have to shoot on sight doesn't matter if your 6 yards out or 20
Rule 2: defending starts from the front you lose the ball you hunt in packs to get it back
Rule 3: once you cross that white line you have fun play your game and don't leave the pitch with any regrets
3 simple rules that could be affective
Works with the under 11's

Yeah, out of all 3, I’d take any of them. All I think have strengths that would make us a better side. McCann has a proven promotion record with what he did at hull & he’ll get a similar budget here, my reservation with him is whether he would want to move down south, same with appleton after his health scare. Manning still lives in the MK area I believe so for me I just think logistically that’s who we might end up with. He brought in some quality players at MK & had the whole lot swept from under him when they didn’t go up last year. I think he would be a good appointment.

Do you think they’re sitting on their hands wondering what to do? I don’t. The board know the timeline between now until the end of the season so I’d rather they took as long as they need to make the right choice.

I wouldn’t, we played better yesterday but we need fresh impetus, where a new manager comes in and the players want to impress that manager & be playing for their futures. Fair play to Short for being forthright and honest in his interviews (it makes a change after the KR drivel) but, there’s nothing new there, no change. It’s the same coaching staff. They have all got favourites & the players are comfortable, they need to be taken out of their comfort zone and don’t underestimate the extra 10% players will give while playing for their futures under someone completely new.

I wonder why that was?

It’s almost as if they were deliberately down playing the likelihood of any return.

Expectation management?

The owners/board taking too much time to make the right choice as in sacking Karl has got us in this mess! He should of been sacked before Christmas and we might of been talking about trying to get in the play offs not being relegated.

I would say we need an announcement before the Derby game to give the new man a week to prepare/work with the team before the relegation 6 pointer against Morecambe.

I'm not surprised, there's quite a lot that feel the same as them on radio Oxford..
That's not healthy for a start, a divided fan base ..
