That's got nothing to do with anything, there isn't some curse on good managers doing poorly here because it happened a couple of times under wildly different circumstances two decades ago.

Critchely jumped ship to be assistant at a Premier League club just like Mapp, except he left a club in the Championship to do it. McCann left Doncaster in pre season at almost exactly the time Mapp left us after a phone call from Hull. Good managers will get poached and most are ambitious and will move. It's a far better situation to be in than no one wanting your manager (or players too, in our case. Cheers Karl). What you're worried about with Mapp the two you're advocating have been guilty of far more recently.

All this being said, and I also voted for Mapp, I agree that I'd be happy with McCann here too, he'd be second choice for me I think assuming Buckingham is out of the equation. Young manager, plays good football and has won this division before as well as getting Doncaster into the playoffs with what I assume was a smaller budget than we have relative to the rest of the league. Had Hull just short of the playoffs before they sold Bowen and Grosicki and nose dived. If he's in the home dugout against Derby I won't be upset.
Mapp said at the time. He’s going nowhere as long at the budget he was promised was there. Or words to that effect live on Radio ox. Didn’t give him the budget, sold players and didn’t reinvest and he was gone.

As I’ve said a couple of times - I’ve so got too carried away with hoping it’s Michael Appleton. Just feel like I’m setting myself up for disappointment!

The reassurance is that there are some really credible candidates being linked (eg McCann, Warburton). If we don’t get Appleton and end up with someone like Murty, Manning, Jackson it’ll be a real downer though.

I still want the double with MAPP and Buckingham. We need a new assistant so hopefully that can be sorted too.
It’s looking like Short will be in charge for tomorrow. Hope to see MAPP observing from above though
Two first team coaches are not needed. Neither one would want to share the role or play second fiddle and then we'd still have to recruit a DOF and HOR on top. It can only be one or the other with these two potential candidates.

Didn’t Tim Williams rule out a Director of Football last week, I might of heard wrong, but I think that’s what he said, or words to that effect.

I still think about if that MAPP team had peak Matty Taylor in it as planned. Wow.

He played the best football I can remember since that Denis Smith run we went on.
I’d have him back tomorrow. He is also a empire builder and that’s just what we need with us being short on the coaching, scouting side.

Regarding the question of whether we need a DoF, surely we’d need to know the scope of the Head of Recruitment role first. Perhaps that role will be expanded as TW was bigging up the quality of candidates.

Nothing. People are putting small amounts of money on in a market literally only about 100 gamblers are interested in.

I'm not sure why we all suddenly think the betting odds somehow correlate to the likelihood of getting the job!?

In this case though…
