I remember it well ,The monsoon that halted the game while the groundsmen were using their forks to try and drain the water away. I've never seen rain drench majority in the east stand like that night.

Today will be one of the games that is remembered for the weather,

Who remembers the game against Kidderminster in January 2004 that was ruined by gale force wind that included fans having to me moved from the SSL to the North stand due to part of SS roof coming loose? Strangely that ended 2-1 to us aswell.

I remember Mansfield away and the the Away End (now the Home End) Roof was flexing like mad in the strong wind in the 1st half with them playing with it. Adam Murray was tearing us apart but they weren't out of reach so the wind would help us in the 2nd half. The wind died at half time and they continued to outplay us.

Great result, team worked their socks off til the end. Would have been easy sit back and take a point with 10/15 minutes to go. Thought Long and especially Moore were both outstanding today

Whisper it, but I think Long is really getting into a groove of late. I really rate him as a centre back - decent pace, good distribution, decent in the air, reads the game well. A good foil for Moore.

His forward runs were pretty good as well, one particular mazy run was excellent.

He is a better centre back than right back, that’s been true for over a year now, with probably his best position being on the right side of a back 3. Actually suits him and Brown best that formation and covers Moores lack of pace.

Robinson might not want to play it but with the players we have now 3-5-2 is our best formation, we might not be the prettiest team to watch when we play it but you get the feeling we will win more games doing so.

Sam Long IMO is a very valuable asset to the squad, he might not be the best player in the squad but always committed to the cause and gives 100%, he has done incredibley well considering all the injury setbacks he had earlier in his career. Also has been involved for donkeys years having come through the ranks since he was a youngboy really means he's one of our own

He's been at the club 20 years, 10 as a professional.

The referee’s job was made much, much easier by the game being a all-square for most of the second half.

It would have been farcical if either team has been losing about the 70 minute mark. Both teams and fans would have been arguing for a postponement, understandably.

According to "the internet"..............

Kieran McKenna says he and Karl Robinson agreed that game should be called off on 74 mins due to the fog.

Referee Bobby Madden said result would have to stand if that was the case (as clock had now reached 75), so two bosses agreed to play on.

Good call! (y)
I think the law states that a football match requires two halves of equal length.
Therefore, any second half postponement means that the game would be replayed.

Brannagan's goal was no non-event. Thundered it in. No swerving left or right, straight as an arrow into the bottom corner. Perfect view from left side , East Stand. Not too cold in row X, but freezing at pitch level.
Good for you. I’d left by then.

Delighted with the three points today but the defending for their goal, dear oh dear. Their man charging forward is unchallenged for 40 yards, Harkness has no-one within 5 metres of him despite being in our box and Anderson is nowhere near the scorer.

It felt like we were still giddy from scoring. Having looked quite strong defensively for most of the half we defended like we'd never played before, and it was 4 or 5 players that didn't do their job.

We can’t keep a clean sheet when we can see the opposition, would of been a miracle when we can’t.

Always bugged me how he’s not club captain.

I think that’s something that should be looked at now Mous have moved on.

He’d be a great club captain.

For the new ground development, I’d love the club to produce video of our academy successes, past and present, to demonstrate the difference it makes.

- Sam, Matty, Baptiste, Go’D, Kidlington’s Callum o’Dowda, Dean Whitehead, Chris Hackett, Chrissie, and of course a tribute to Joey.

Also to link to all the age groups currently at the club. Imagine having a 9 or 10 year old from Kidlington talking about one day walking out at their home stadium.

Long is only 28 as well. He could be here for the next 5 years if he used as a squad/utility player the higher up the table and leagues we go.

It’s a no brainer that he should be Club Captain for me personally.
