I've renewed my Season Ticket official thread

It’s not that bad , free to under 7’s and £60 7-13 in the family stand That’s not really up, the ox4life package was £49 for all wasn’t it ?

Not everyone with kids wants to sit in the family stand. My daughter won't leave the white hot atmosphere and frenzied passion of the SSL so that's a £90 renewal.

With the renewal deadline date approaching, does anyone care to guess how many we've sold so far?

Season ticket sales for the past two years:

2016/17:
Deadline date: 4,122
Start of the season: 5,353

2017/18:
Deadline date: 4,090
Start of the season: Over 4,700*

*I don't know the exact figure but know it's between 4,700 and 4,800.

This season they've actually been on sale longer than last season, despite the slightly earlier renewal date (6 weeks last season compared to over 8 weeks this season).

So with all that said, I'm going to guess we will have sold 3,872 by the end of the week.

I saw a bloke drop his sandwich last season, he seemed pretty damn passionate about it! A whole flask of tea with nothing to wash down. Poor fella.

Crazy when you put it like that, isn't it? .…
Not particularly when I compare it to the amount of money I sink into my other hobby of cycling and the fact it is three generations sharing the same passion every other weekend.

I even work allot of match days so don't get value for money but I want to get the kids up there and also support the club.

Don't get me wrong, I've had an ST for many, many seasons now and go to most easy matches, so I fully appreciate the good bits of being a fan. I just really think that the OX4LIFE should've been continued.

It has ! Read his post he got two kids season tickets for £0

Christ alive Dave.

When the OX4LIFE scheme was first initiated it applied to kids up to the age of 15! I think that this is a great age to target them, as they will just be 'properly' getting into going to the football. Under 7s probably don't even have that much of a clue what's going on, and spend most of the time on their iPad.

My young brother was 14 when he got his first ST on the OX4LIFE scheme. It was £49 and he got a free shirt. He's now just got his third ST in a row having previously not been an Oxford supporter.

Now, a 14 year old looking to get an ST in the same area would have to fork out £285!!

I admire your relentlessness in towing the party line, but surely you can see that that's a bit of a price hike?

The price of OX4Life ticket has gone up £11. The under 18 ticket is just £25. I'm guessing you are comparing getting a season ticket in the south stand lower when you are saying it will cost £285. Well you can choose to pay £285 and the club will take your money but for people that may be in the same situation of buying their first season ticket at 14 years old they can pay £75.

That is extremely reasonable.

The club have limited streams of revenue and I expect they soon realised after the one year giving away shirts it is better to get the kids in through the doors of the club shop.

Saying that the OX4LIFE ticket has only gone up £11 is just spin. You could get one for £49 in the SSU at 15. A season ticket in the SSU would now cost a 15 year old £235 - £285.

Hooking kids at age 13-15 is important as, from my experience, this is the point you really start to get into going to the football. The idea is that these kids will eventually end up being full-price paying adults. It's a pretty straightforward marketing strategy.

I suggest you read your own posts back before accusing others of spin.

OX4Life season tickets cost £75 for under 18's.

South stand upper tickets cost more.

Children under 16 are the future fan base. Should be £50 no matter where they are. Then a "young persons deal" 16-18. Anyone over that pays the same until you get to 65+ where you could then reverse the structure....... 65-75 yr old pays the same as 16-18 anyone over 75 £50. :)

I’m not towing the party line mate. I was a massive critic in the changes to ox4life last season. And have always spoke passionately about the need to attract the younger generation. But u do have an option. I know plenty of people with kids in the ssu that were in the exact same position and have moved to the family area and now get it at a massively reduced rate. In fact I my self sat in the lounges where prices rose over £200 in 3 season with the offering massively reduced. Guess what I did, moved to the other side same position and saved myself £400. Your not comparing like for like and I stand by my statement the ox4life package on offer this season is a decent offer. If u choose not to take full advantage of it that’s your choice, but I do also understand people wanting to remain where they have always sat

Find me a 15 year old that wants to sit in the family stand. The best thing about the OX4LIFE scheme in its previous form was that you could take kids/teenagers along with you that previously you may have just brought along to one or two games a season, and you didn't have to significantly change your own match day experience in doing so.

I find it incredibly hard to understand how anyone could argue against the suggestion that the OX4LIFE scheme (in its old form!!!) was anything but a huge positive.

The new scheme does not even begin to scratch the surface of the old one in terms of the incentive it gave to families to being along new, young fans.

agree with most of that @Essexyellows and maybe drop the senior season ticket age to 60 in line with many other clubs ? ( and yes vested interest declared here) ;);).......on the op subject, after many years without one, only doing occasional games, my (younger) sister has got herself a ST sitting with my dad n nephew in SSL

But there also has to be a balance between attracting fans and losing a lot of money. With a free shirt included it meant every fan in the ground under 13 was getting a season ticket for £9. That’s not sustainable. So a compromise has to be reached. No one is happy with price rises. But ur comparing a package with one 3 years ago in a lower league. How do u say it compares to last season? As it looks same price but a lot more with it than just a free scarf.

But that is very short term thinking that does not seem in keeping with any sort of long term stategy. Kids aged 13-15 are not that far off from becoming adults, and will hopefully end up paying for a full price ticket for many years to comes after getting hooked whilst attending on cheaper tickets.

My 17 year old has been a S/T holder in the SSU for 8 years. I've asked him if he'd want to sit elsewhere but he has said no, partly because of the banter around us. The comments that are seriously not PC. The p. taking of officials, players and fans go to make it an enjoyable day, come win, draw or lose.... He couldn't give a rats a**e about Premier teams and holds his mates in disdain for "supporting" teams that mean nothing at all to them. He is yellow thru and thru. he makes me a proud Dad. Next year I will be coughing up for a full price adult ticket for him, even though he'll still be in full time education, so I'd love to see the young adult price extended to students.

There should be fewer, more simplistic, price bands.
1. Under 16..... max of £50
2. 16 - 18 Young person....... max £150
3. 18 - 65 (sorry @Sarge we will all be working longer & older!) as is.
4. 65+ as a "Thank you" to the generation. £150

The OX4LIFE package in 2015 was for under 13's not 15 year olds.

Just renewed mine (East Stand, right). At least there's the World Cup to fill the void a bit this season, but it seems like ages ago the season finished and bloody ages to go until it all starts again!

omg slow closed season, or what, this is the most exciting active thread on the forum :)
