How to complete the season

Let’s not forget we are 3rd your game in hand is Coventry away and out goal difference is 23 yours is 5 a difference of 18 oh yes you won three of your last 5 we won our last 5

I don’t get the relevance of goal difference - clearly you’re a more attacking side than us so are likely to score more goals. Points are what count.

We have a better run in then you and given our home form the chances are that we would have beaten yourselves and Rotherham which would have been huge wins.

Not to you and I and those of us who have known about it since it was first mentioned it isn't, but remember the average Joe in the street needs a computer to work out goal difference....

Why does Average Joe need to be able to work it out?

Why can't he just be told - "this is the most statistically robust method for working out the final table, taking account of games played home-and-away. It will tell us whom the third best team in this division was this season".

If he has the inclination then Average Joe can attempt to challenge it, but I'll warrant they'll probably just wipe the spittle off their chins and regurgitate the tired old...."bbbbbbbbbut we've got a game in hand".

Problem solved.

I have grudgingly listened and understood a lot of your arguments South London, but using ‘the chances are we would have beaten you and Rotherham‘ as one is getting a little desperate. I just hope this can all be settled in the only way thats fair - on a football pitch.

Goal difference means nothing right? So who would be in the higher position if you drew your game in hand against coventry?

We have a terrific home record, we have beaten Portsmouth and Sunderland at home and given that we beat Rotherham away I’d fancy us.

Do you get the relevance of football in general?
If you had lost one which is also a strong possibility then you would have been floundering.

All irrelevant now though isn’t it.

Let’s hope that a play off campaign commences when safe to do so and may the best team win.

I for the life of me cant see how a team who aren't even in the playoffs being considered for promotion. Because if they are promoted to 3rd under PPG and the play offs cant be played, and at the moment I cant see that they will. They will then be promoted by de-fault. For me it has to be weighted PPG or what Ryan Birdio posted earlier.

No matter which way you slice it in terms of PPG, the top two in L1 are Coventry and Rotherham and the top three in L2 are Crewe, Swindon and Plymouth. ✅

So just sack off the playoffs , use weighted PPG to decide third in L1, and promote only those sides. ✅

Championship can do the same. ✅

Done. This is what people get paid for. Run your god damn administrations and make some decisions, you spineless idiots.

The prem has just voted to resume training. No reason why League 1 cant resume as well then.

I guess just the costs of managing safety etc e.g. cost of tests etc.

If league one can’t cope with a 4 team play off in June (assuming that’s the way it goes) then how does it cope with 24 teams playing each other twice from August?

I answered the original question about Premier league players agreeing to return to training compared to League One players, but to answer your question, nothing is going to change in August either, not until the end of the year at the earliest (vaccine permitting) so it will be the same as now or until a vaccine is readily available.

Football will not be starting in August. Unless the government decide that we cant beat this virus and so go back to the herd immunity and get everyone to catch. Now officially they will not say that but !!
