Sport Cricket World Cup

It seems so obvious to me what cricket should do:

Get rid of the Hundred.

Get rid of 50 over cricket.

Have T20 cricket as the only short form of the game, with a World Cup as well as short tournaments within a country eg the IPL/something exciting in the UK.

Make Test cricket much more prestigious again. Have some players be test specialists, some be T20 specialists and the odd exceptional one play both formats.

So, to be fair, that's now been two cracking games in the past two days.

Problem is that we're now 99.9% sure who the four semi-finalists are going to be (India, SA, Aus & NZ) but there's still two weeks and 17 more games to play before we get there......

So we play India and restrict them to 230 - not bad.

We are now 33-3. Please god, just make it stop!

Looked at what India scored and thought I will have watch of our chase, havenโ€™t lasted very long.

Still only 6 more years and this group stage will be over.

98-8 ๐Ÿ˜ก

I thought our bowling and fielding were excellent, but the batting performance has put that into context

They didn't prepare properly for this competition (we said so on here before it had even started). Whether that's because they didn't really care about the competition, they were arrogant enough to think they didn't need to prepare or they couldn't arrange any proper preparation because of the loopy scheduling of the cricket season, I don't know. It has been (in sporting terms) an unmitigated disaster though, and heads should roll.

Starting with those who came up will the hundred..... and bin the hundred at the same time too

Rohit summed up how to win that game post-match - adopt a Test match attitude for 10-15 overs or so - we should do the same, except our Test match attitude is to smash it around. We need some players with game sense.

On a brighter note, Aussies are 87-6 against Afghanistan chasing 292. ๐Ÿ˜

Another victim of losing the toss and having to bat second.

Australia are hopeless at chasing, their record is abysmal in 50 over games in recent years.

When England went out I lost almost all interest in this WC. When India steamrollered South Africa, a team that had looked pretty decent, I lost the rest.

It's India's to lose. They're the best team in it. I hope they choke but they probably won't.

Aus 96-7 now. Why isn't Smith in the side? Anyone know?

Vertigo!?

Australia captain Pat Cummins: "It doesn't change the plans too much. We would have had a bat but it's fine.

"We've got two changes. Steve [Smith] has struggled in the warm-up [after struggling with vertigo this week]

Blimey, that's not something you hear of causing someone to miss a game very often.

Oh dear.
Maxwell 175 no looks as if he maybe winning it for Aus.
