Sport Cricket World Cup

Got to laugh at the Indian commentators blaming conditions batting second 🤣 It is your home world cup, you knew this would be an issue before scheduling the matches...
To be fair it is the same the world over. Especially In 50 over matches winning the toss is usually a huge advantage. There is normally a huge difference between conditions in the first innings to the second. The choice to bat or field on the day is always big.
As in many finals the supposed best team doesn't always win, it's what makes top level sport compelling.

It is very weird actually wanting the Aussies to win a game of cricket, anything to shut up the annoying section of the Indian support that flood every cricket social media comments section. The Man Utd supporters of the cricket world.
The majority go to watch their team win, not to watch a cricket match. But that is the modern trend in all sports, winning is more important than the game itself.
It was another match where you wanted both teams to lose!!

In India certainly. I've never been to an England game where we couldn't appreciate the opposition players, and applaud good shots and achievements by them. That includes The Ashes where there is a lot of 'banter' but also respect for the sport. Having a full house fall utterly silent like it does in India when they start losing doesn't happen over here.

Totally agree about English cricket, nothing better than a day in the Hollies stand. We are the exception not the rule. But we have no cricket ground that holds 100k. It is similar to football, how many leave when your team is 3-0 down and they ain't coming back on the day. It's just the modern cultural way.

What the tournament did show was that Maxwell's crazy knock against Afganistan when prior to it, Australia were basically going home, fundamentally changed the whole Australian psyche. They went into the final games with no fear and ultimately it was the fear of failure that destroyed India.

The Aussies would do the same.
If the World Cup Final was at the MCG, and an opponent played one of the greatest ever One Day innings to wrest the trophy from them, their crowd would give him a solid ovation.

Frankly, it was great to watch Kohli have his parade well and truly rained on. Just wish it was anyone other than the Aussies beating them!
