FA Cup 3rd round draw

Unless we already have planning permission in place and a provider for the temporary stand, it will not happen. This is not something we can merely knock up in a few weeks.

If it was to happen then the club would have already put measures in place previous in anticipation of its use but this doesn't appear to have happened although it is always mentioned when we have a monster tie.

If it wasn't for the pandemic interruption, I think we would've pursued it especially after that string of sell-outs cup and league.

There are lots of logistical issues (Kassam being the biggest!) that makes a temporary stand an unlikely prospect.

However, at a time when we are looking to move into a 18,000 seating new home, what better way to show the appetite for live football in the county than to have 15k+ fans at a game that is also on live TV (assuming it's picked).

Of course there will be those that say they're only there because its Arsenal, but we have far bigger aspirations than league one and would hope to be going toe to toe with big Championship sides week in, week out as well as progressing further in cup competitions where PL opposition is a regular attraction.

Whatever happens this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our club and the revenue and publicity that comes with it will be very much welcomed. Plus it will give us the opportunity to prepare for a really big club in the 4th round!!!

I think temp stand v unlikely. 2.5k extra seats would produce £60k+ but extra stewards, police, sweetener to FK etc, makes it financially not viable. Remember Arsenal get 50% of profits unless they forego the funds like we did at Mertsham some seasons ago- little chance of that !!

Didn’t the Beeb build a small studio by the Fence when we played Newcastle?

Perhaps we could ask them to do the same again but also knock up a quick temporary terrace while they’re there too?

Mate The "Bread + Butter" is where the new fans are needed, we all know the club got it badly wrong in the summer the way those who rallied to the call were treated.

All this Big club visiting hysteria is nothing more than a "cash in" exercise, we thumped Newcastle West Ham etc in front of full houses yet where were they come the next League game.

There has been so much negativity on here and general apathy towards Domestic Cup Competitions, many people just didn't bother Saturday and yet because a Prem club is coming every man and his dog wants a ticket or several..

Barnsley and Charlton visit before the cup match so sell tickets as a Package and ensure a full house for 3 games not just 1,

Allt his talk of temporary stands is plain crazy, why should the club go to such expense just to accomodate those who want to come because it's a premier League club, yet wont come near the place either before or after.

It won't be allowed to happen, but in the case that it was and it's a profitable exercise, why wouldn't they? They are a commercial enterprise, after all.

New fans have to start somewhere, and if we are to make a success of SB, we will need many new fans to ensure that the average attendance rises enough to justify it.

It would be great (if it wasn't wobbly) but I can't imagine we could get a temporary stand, it probably wouldn't be profitable and would involve an awful lot of work and meeting of regulations, plus the issues over extra traffic etc.

I think last time we looked into it, Kelvin Thomas or GBT was chairman or MD. I think he costed it as having an average ticket price of about £13 once you factored in adults, kids, concessions. Kassam wanted to charge the club a fee to erect it, and that there were extra issues over having proper segregation and toilet facilities. Presumably the club would need to take the fence-end down as well and then put it back up again afterwards.

If you put the away fans in a temp stand it would do away with segregation in the north stand so you would see an increase in capacity bigger than the temp stands.

Never going to happen with cuddly Uncle Firoz though, if we make fiver he will want a tenner.

The worst thing we can do is allow new people into the ground, what if they want to come again? f**k that.

We should just stick with the same old fans until they all die off, good long term plan that.
Well, that will include you, eventually!

Theefore make the effort to get them to League games , if they're interested in Oxford they will come..Also when they do, treat them the same as any other fan afterwards rather than score massive Own Goals like was the case with Season Tickets.

People on here have already mentioned that Arsenal fans are asking them to get tickets, are they coming to a future Oxford game nope.

The SAG have imposed a limit of 1400 away fans for this season.

For FA cup matches, you have to offer 15%* of available tickets to the away side. If the allocation remains at 1400 we may have to limit the number of home fans to 7933 to still offer 15% to Arsenal.

(*There are sometimes exceptions to this rule.)

There are at least 7 home games remaining this season where the away fans will sell out 1400 tickets.
If it wasn't for ka££am, you could easily make a case for a temp stand.

Most would be in favour if it's financially viable but where would all the extra cars go?

Nice to have these games, but then you get the local 'diehards' of whatever team we are playing showing up in the home sections.
Most of them couldn't find their beloved team on a map!

Last year, when we were good, people had plenty of reasons to come to league matches; they did, in their droves.

This year, given the utter-toilet we've been served, something else needs to be the catalyst. A glamour cup tie could just be the thing.

I'm absolutely in favour of the club rewarding regular fans with priority access to the FA Cup game, but if there was a way to get more in, I'd be all for it.

Sad that our entitled fanbase don’t think ‘new’ fans should be provided with a temporary stand for this game; what the f**k gives you the right to decide which fans attend Oxford United games? How about the 33000 at Wembley, and how many of those then started coming to games?! Try thinking outside your own little worlds, if you want to guarantee your own ticket for cup games buy a season ticket. And as I said, show the dissenters that we can fill 15000 seats and need a bigger stadium at SB and if the owners can absorb Kassam’s share of the become from this game so be it.
