With all the excitement of the mens team reaching 3rd place in the league and a rallying call for fans to attend the last 9 matches I thought it was a good time to remind fans that we have another team worthy of support.

Yesterday Oxford United Women won their second game in a week (their first league games for 3 months) beating both MK Dons and Portsmouth (both 2-1). This moved them up to 3rd place in their league, League website

With only 3 home games remaining (5 away) they need and deserve the support of fans for those home games which are against the current top 2 in the league and the team in 6th place.

With an attendance of 285 yesterday, the highest since the WSL days it would be great to try and top that for the remaining games.

Just like the men the women play attractive attacking football and at on;y £2 for season ticket holders (£5 normal price) it's a bargain for Sunday afternoon entertainment particularly now the weather seems to be improving.

The remaining home games;

22/03 Crawley Wasps (top of league)
26/04 Cardiff City (6th place)

The other gasme is against Watford (2nd place) which is yet to be scheduled due to their cup success but this also means they are behind in games so this could hamper them with having to play alot of games in a short space of time.

So the bottom line is if you're looking for a family day out on Sunday 22nd March you could do a lot worse than making the trip to Oxford City FC and let the girls know the whole club is behind them willing them to succeed.

Where do they need to finish to achieve promotion/playoffs? What league would they go up to if they did?

Basically promotion is a tough ask as the winners of the Southern Premier and Northern Premier meet in a play off, the winners then only gaining promotion to the WSL Championship if they meet the entrance criteria. In true FA tradition that critieria isn't particularly clear.

Despite all that support of the women's team would be welcomed.

..... 4G suface at CPF could be an issue (for FA crieria).... assumably as could the Training ground also be an issue re criteria .... not insurmountable though should OUWFC ladies make the playoff final , and win .... Abingdon Utd (previously used for U18 games) & Thame Utd (previously used for occasional U23 games) could be options for home games (without owning the Breeze Block/ our own stadium of course

Quick Q @nick68 .... should OUWFC go 'all the way' & win the play off final, would, if FA criteria met, that put OUWFC 'back' to the level they were during the Lanagan era?

Correct @Sarge they dropped a level as part of the WSL application process two years ago. I personally feel they're in a better place on and off the pitch now than they were then so who knows. Realistically promotion is t likely this season but who knows next season.

Yes they play at Chichester this Sunday (2pm), Selsy FC PO20 0QG if anyone fancies a trip.

Obviously things may change but currently this league is following Government advice on the issue.

Just to correct Nick, the playoff between Southern and Northern Premier winners no longer determines who gains promotion; both teams go up. The playoff merely decides who ’wins’ the FAWNL. Essentially, it's a nice day out and another little trophy, but carries little meaning in the grand scheme of things.

Court Place Farm meets the FA Women's Championship criteria, the training ground does not. I believe our current deal expires at the end of this season, though expect OUWFC to extend.

Realistically, we aren't going to be promoted this season.

As a side note, clubs chasing promotion have actually already submitted licence applications and I don't know if we even applied, to be honest. I'll have to ask.

Finally, Watford Ladies have suspended all football [to be] in line with the men's team, as part of a one-club approach to Covid-19, so that game won't take place any time soon.
