+++ 25/09/2019 League Cup OUFC V West Ham United +++

What an incredible performance!

Where do I start?!?

Baptiste was unbelievable, completely bossed the midfield with great tackling, passing, and driving forward with the ball, and that goal was an absolute worldie, I really believe he's gonna go on to be potentially world class!

Brannagan was awesome, again, great passing and energy, and he looked much better than Wilshire!

Long had a great game, absolutely immense, defended great, an absolute rock, and got forward really well, and on that performance, we've got nothing to worry about when Cadden leaves.

Moore was excellent, best game for us so far by a mile, and took his goal really well, very encouraging performance.

Sykes was amazing, he was scaring the life out of their left back, with great skilful runs and his cross for Taylors goals was perfect.

Ruffels was excellent, really solid display, and his last ditch tackle when West Ham were breaking on us was incredible.

Dickie was great, again, a few dodgy moments with the ball in the first half, but otherwise, excellent.

Eastwood had a quiet night, apart from one great save at 2-0, and his kicking was very good.

Mackie, again, put in a great shift, with awesome shithousery, and really galvanises the team and fans, and is becoming a bit of club legend!

Hall had his best game for a long time, and it was really encouraging to see him playing with more energy and enthusiasm, and was really unlucky not score with a great free kick, really encouraging signs from him.

Forde was great, ran the channels and kept the ball really well, with some nice neat work, looks like a cracking player.

Taylor took his goal well, and is starting to settle in nicely, looking forward to seeing more goals from him.

Fosu was brilliant when he came on, and when he raced clear for his goal, showed great pace, and composure, what a talent.

Thorne looked really good until the injury, with some really nice intelligent passes, hopefully the injury's not too serious, poor guy.

Overall, one of the best performances I've seen from us in years, we really battered them, and to a man, were on another level to them from start to finish.

10 goals from 2 games, and 4 clean sheets, the depth in quality in our squad is frightening, and it looks like its starting to really come together nicely now, everyone looks settled and there looks like there's a great togetherness throughout the whole squad.

Well done lads, keep it up!

Laugh out loud..Hammers fan losing his s_ _ _ on Talkwotsit ..worse he's seen in 45 years and left at 3_0!! Yeah it's embarrassing but no-one seems to remember us as previous cup winners. It's quite a good draw given Prem teams knocking each other out.
That was a classic wasn’t it, Terry (I think) was absolutely beside himself with rage! The presenter was brilliant at winding him up telling him Oxford made several team changes as well. Also slagged him off for leaving at 3-0...

last 4 games - scored 10 conceded 0.
brilliant

KR does like his stats. Two from his post match interview:

- we have scored more than anyone else other than Man City in “England” this season

- our average squad age tonight was lower than WH’s tonight

Are either of these actually true? Obviously, if neither are true, he’s forgiven. What a hell of a match that was.

By my count, we've scored 27 goals so far this season. Can't be arsed to do any more maths tonight though

Still buzzing! An evening that will live long in the memory, with superbly taken goals.

That was an absolutely superb all round team performance, and to think KR made 6 changes from Saturday.

Hall was struggling for the first 30 mins and was clearly not fit enough to track back and support Long on the right hand side. Switching Sykes to the right made a huge difference, we suddenly looked better defensively and attacking wise.

As others have said Baptiste was a well deserved man of the match, that’s some player we’ve got. Has to be remembered he’s still coming back from injury. Looks a Premier League player in the making.

Great entertainment, and an excellent atmosphere.

Wow!

What a result that was. Second half we battered a pretty awful West Ham.

Being super critical, I think we basically played with 10 men most of the game - Hall was nowhere and was evident that we stepped up a level when Fosu came on.

Sykes playing out wide is certainly an exciting option.
Forde put in a very professional performance and used the ball really well.
Long, I worried before kick off. How wrong could I be? So solid & offered an attacking option too.
Thorne looks very good and was disappointing to see him injure his shoulder.
Brannagan I just expect him to play well these days and I think he did a lot of unseen work today having to sit in a deeper role. Absolutely bossing the middle.
Mackie Mackie Mackie. I love that man.
Ruffels was solid and that crunching tackle made my penis tingle.
Dickie and Moore didn’t give an inch. This was very very nice to see as that partnership has shipped a few goals so far this season - I was also worried they’d get outpaced but I don’t think West Ham got properly in behind all game. Offside a few times but that’s equally commendable.
Back to penis tingliness. Shandon Baptiste, everyone has always said it, but he’s going places.

I’ve missed Taylor and Easty but I’ve already gone on enough now.

Who we gonna play on Saturday? We can’t drop Shandon, or Forde imo. Cadden and Henry might make it back in but Sykes wholeheartedly deserves a place on the bench at least.
On the train back to Bristol grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Come on you f*****g yellows!!!

Just got home after a fantastic night for the U’S 4-0 could easily have been a few more. Must be the best ever match at the stadium.
A proud night for all Oxford United Fans
