I'm struggling to see how this transfer window has been anything other than a disappointment to be honest.
We started the month with pretty much everyone in unanimous agreement that what we needed was a proven striker, perhaps even two. The suggestion from those at the club was that this issue would be addressed, and quite frankly it hasn't been.
I really do hope that Sinclair goes on to be the next Roofe (which is very much a possibility), but there's also a good chance he could just be another Smith or Tyler Roberts. That's why we so desperately needed a striker that has consistently proved that they can score goals at this level or above.
Despite the failure to find such a striker, I think the signing of Graham has already began to bear fruit so that is a major positive. He's already added some much needed balance and wing play to our play. The jury is still out on Sykes and Kashi though. So far it does seem one is very much for the future and the other is just here to provide a bit of experience and midfield cover (I'll let you decide which is which).
When you consider that a couple of big earners left during the window in Holmes and McMahon, as well as Raglan, Smith, Norman and Dai, it does raise further questions over Tiger's ability/willingness to provide the necessary funds for us to be successful.
Will we go down? Who knows. Our recent results and performances in the league have shown a lot of improvements, but it's very tight down the bottom and a couple of quality players would almost certainly have made a big difference. Had we signed Pittman/Vaughan/Hylton I'd have been feeling a lot more confident.
Regardless, it is what it is now. We must make do with a threadbare squad for the next 3 months and hope they can accumulate enough points to see us safe. Despite feeling very negative about Tiger and the state of the club, I'll back the team on match days as I always do.
