I know it has been mentioned at length on previous pages but it might be worth trying to extract 1 or 2 of Readings better players at a discounted price due to their financial problems. There are no relocation problems and potentially opportunistic value. For example Charlie Savage as CDM at 22 with good potential, a Wales international and supposedly a really good attitude. There was no transfer fee when they acquired him from MU but a 50% sell-on clause. Would £200k be value for us and good for Reading with accompanying wage reduction 🤷‍♂️
Charlie Savage signed a contract at Reading that included a salary increase based on starts to encourage performance based reward. He’s 1 start away from that milestone - you’ll note he’s not started a league game in a long time.
Intentional and instructed to avoid triggering the increase. Player suffering as he’s moved down, left family and GF behind, being treated poorly.

Have we not go enough of this in Eastwood, Bennett, Long, Leigh, Bodin, Henry and McEachran? Think the last thing we need is a another player who looks like they're running in treacle when they try to break out of a jog.

Plus we have Moore - nearly 200 apps, Brannagan - over 250 apps, Long - nearly 200 apps . We are not short on experience, we're short on pace and robust players.

Didn't Kassam do that with Bradbury. We had a severely depleted squad at the time, IIRC.

It was similar. IIRC it was a a one year contract extension triggered by a certain number of games played.

Edit: A quick bit of maths would suggest it was either more than 40 appearances in the league or 45 appearances in the whole season.

Ricardinho also if memory serves me correctly. A clause was triggered by number of starts so Robinson kept bringing him off the bench. What a player he was!

Didn't we f*ck it up with a player once as well? Alex Jeannin?
Wasn't supposed to play as it would have triggered an extension but we did it anyway?
