FA Cup 2023-24 FA Cup R1 Draw

Why meh? It's a home time from which we should progress.
Unfortunately I just can't get excited over a home game with Maidenhead. I was hoping for an exciting away day since I actually think we are good enough to beat anyone to get through to the 2nd round.

Happy with that, home tie against a non-league side we should beat. Compare that to the all League One ties we should be satisfied.

For me that’s one of the good possible draws, obviously better, more interesting ones but there were at least 23 crap ones and another 24 or 25 that were worse, so we can’t complain.

We are highly likely to be in the second round which will do me.

Well, I can. It's the best cup tournament of all and, hopefully, the exiting away days will come later.

Maidenhead are currently in the National League relegation zone, having won none of their last five.

If anything I'm the opposite, I enjoy drawing sides we don't regularly play against. Can understand the point about an exciting away day, but were there many available in that draw? The better away days will come later on in the competition, and we've been given a better chance of progressing with ties like this.

The James Golding derby, although of course he won't be playing in it (unless it's for us).

Glad it's at home, as there's no Saturday home league game in between Wycombe on Oct 28th and Burton on Dec 16th (assuming the Portsmouth one is postponed, which I'm sure it will be).

That isn't a bad tie actually, it's at home against a team I've never seen us play and very winnable for us to progress to the second round.

Exeter v Wigan
Orient v Carlisle
Lincoln v Morecambe
Port Vale v Burton
Mansfield v Wrexham
Newport v Oldham
Crewe v Derby
Bradford v Wycombe
Doncaster v Accrington
Reading v Mk Dons
Notts county v Crawley
Stevenage v Tranmere
Peterborough v Salford
Northampton v Barrow
Wimbledon v Cheltenham

All very boring in comparison

Pick of the bunch and got to be in for a chance of TV coverage are

Chesterfield v Pompey
Bromley v Blackpool
Bristol rovers v Chelmsford or Whitby
Billericay or Sheppey v Walsall
Barnsley v Horsham
Charlton v Cray Valley paper mills

Anyways I will be getting tickets to watch our game as Ifollow don't cover fa cup games.

Valid point. Will give us something to look forward to. Will be at Lincoln on the Tuesday evening before so that's an expensive trip. A home tie is far less expensive!
