Time to get our best goalkeeper back in the team. Eastwood hasn't let anyone down and performed well but the shots do for some reason seem to fly past him into the net. Not necessarily his fault. But he is not our number 1 and putting our best goalkeeper back in might just give a bit of a spark to the whole team.
We didn't have that spark at the beginning of the season with Stevens, in fact we've looked stronger since Eastwood has been back.

Lincoln players conned the referee all second half and we didn't.

Players diving, holding their faces when there was no contact, surrounding the ref after every challenge.

Ref has bought it all and completely buckled under it. We should have been doing it back but didn't even make enough of a horrific red card challenge in the first half.

With the Taylor one on one we could have got something but not to be.

Now we have Bran and Kane missing against decent sides, awful afternoon.
Hmm not quite as 'balanced' as most of other posters here (most sensible forum i have lurked on this season) Stocksbridge very poor but 4 no- yellows and a no-red benefitted you massively ..had he given the fk for clear hack at McGrandles then next 5 players (flying of both sides) in to tackles wouldnt have ended with Kane red ...from my vantage point in stadium we were actually most impressed with Williams but your vulnerability out wide needs addressing on both sides of the pitch, and all glad when he was subbed..Imps ended game with 2 RBs at Centre Half, 2 attacking mids at full back and 4 right mids on the pitch and no strikers - smallest squad in L1 and missing 5 starters (and 2/3 captains) in Walsh/Jackson/Bridcutt/Hopper/Draper plus presumably our only 'fit' CB in Montsma for a long stint. Best side in League by a mile is Rotherham on what we have seen. Big drop for us since last year was the removal of the new salary cap that evened things up last season. Us possible play offs at best i think ..KR decent manager and some quality L1 players but with Sunlun spending fortunes as well as Ips/Pompey Charlton Wycombe Rotherham and even Bolton Wigan gambling on getting up it will be carnage ..good luck ..back to lurking

That will be for the manager to decide, tbf if the defence had played their part maybe the shots wouldn’t fly past him.

Not criticising Eastwood, but lets just get our best players in the team, and Stevens is a better keeper than Eastwood in my opinion. Something different needs to be tried to see if it works. If it doesn't work and we keep conceding at least a goal or two a game then try something else. But at the moment there is no real cover to changing our current back 4 and we don't have an alternative DM to Gorrin, so try the keeper and see how it goes. Might seem harsh on Eastwood but you never know until you try.

Sorry, I don't quite buy that.

There were numerous reasons we didn't have the spark at the beginning of the season, mainly 'gelling' as a team which we always seem to struggle with. Stevens is a better keeper in terms of our all round play, recycling the ball and moving it around at the back. The defence looks more confident with him in and it always feels that there is a mistake in Eastwood, particularly at his near post and a weakness with shots from outside the box. Eastwood is a good, solid L1 keeper but I think it's difficult to argue we're stronger at the back with Eastwood over Stevens.

Stevens started this season way below the standard he set last season. I don't think there's anything between them, and actually think Eastwoods distribution is better.

Certainly not the key area we need to worry about to be honest.

Agree goalie is the least of our problems, but, there are some underlying problems which have surfaced during the January transfer period. Plus KR is genuinely upset at being bypassed by Cam's agent and it shows. During his interview he virtually dismissed buying players, saying that we were OK with what we have after losing our midfield, his whole demeanour seemed very downbeat.

I'm afraid today was an off day. We have looked a little out of sorts the last couple of games. It happens to all teams in a season. I'm not concerned maybe in 6 games time if things are the same but we wouldn't be Oxford if we didn't have a wobble or two. For me the next 5 games are crucial. 9 points and above from these and we are in a great position any less for me would be a real dent in this year campaign.

Eastwood has done well for Oxford so unless the manager feels the goals he has conceded are his fault I doubt whether he will change things, we are in the play offs because of Easty doing well.

In previous seasons, we’d have won that game.

🤣 Was you there? We could still be playing now and we wouldn’t be in the lead.

It was a garbage performance. Absolutely not a chance would we ever have won the game playing like that.

Having said that, it’s just 3 points and there are still 20 odd games to play. No need to panic from any of us, yet.

What did Karl mean during the post match interview on Rad Ox when referring to getting deals done quickly rather than dragging on etc when he says we need clarity! Seemed to be referring to the board I thought e.g. acting quicker, but could be wrong!

Maybe he Is frustrated with how long the takeover deal has took too? I'm guessing with Tiger still pulling the strings that getting deals over the line are taking as long as they have the previous 2 years.

The problem is, when he talks like this on the radio after a match, it comes across as very non specific and vague. It's ambiguous and we could spend the next week working out what he means and still be wrong!

Have we put all our eggs in one basket with the Kane deal. Are the board prepared to lay out anything more?

Anyone who thinks Eastwood is better than Stevens needs their head checking imo.

With all the crosses due to come in our box next week at Wycombe. Stevens has to start
I'm guessing you missed the first dozen games of the season? I honestly can't recall one performance from Jack that was significantly better than those from Eastwood.

Of all areas to worry about, our goalkeeper isn't one of them.

It’s not based on today. Eastwood couldn’t do anything with the goals and made a decent save from Maguire. My argument is who’s a better goalkeeper. In my opinion, Stevens is a better keeper

Well, getting deals done/sorted quickly, and seeking clarity about this doesn’t seem that difficult to work out I don’t think!

Well can you afford to drop him with the points he has gained whilst in goal?

We had two above average chances in the first half, Matty Taylor clean through and a slide rule pass into either corner of the goal he would have scored and shortly after Williams shot straight at the keeper when yet again hit the keeper rather than making the keeper save.....
5 points lost over the last two games and Matty Taylor is to blame, if he scores the penalty against Cheltenham, we win the game, he scores the first goal this afternoon when clean through I really do believe we will go on and win the game.
Timing is everything, what more can the rest of the team do when your main striker is out of form..........!
I am gutted today,.
