Would be a very good option think I mentioned a few weeks ago that this wouldn’t be a surprise as KR has been full of praise for him in the past. His record isn’t outstanding but would like to think he’d suit our style of play more then Portsmouth’s and would be good to have another experienced L1 player in the squad.

Sometimes you need players that have been they done it some wise heads perhaps we do also need some talent to upgrade and sell on lol

Fair shout but it’s not an either/or situation. A low risk signing like Williams might help us roll the dice on one or two others.

I have no inside knowledge here but I think if the bookies were to put odds on his next club, I’d expect reuniting with the Cowley brothers on the south coast to be an overwhelming favourite. Who knows - he may want a fresh chapter.

But he’s a good suggestion and I think there’s some really appealing players knocking around. I can imagine competition for signatures is very high & I think L1 will be the most competitive it has ever been next year.

My personal choice would be Harry Chapman in that role. Maybe a fee of around 200K similar to the McGuane deal could get him in.

Kaikai let go by Blackpool. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he rocks up here in the next few weeks

Linked with Pompey winger Ryan Williams, as per BBC South and Pompey commentator, Andrew Moon. Turned down a new deal at Portsmouth.

Came to us on loan from Fulham in 13/14. I must admit, I can’t remember him all that much.

Highly rated at Pompey though. Their fans aren’t happy that he’s leaving. However, it seems as though he’s another Sykes type player, with little to no end product. Not sure he’s what we need right now.

To be fair that was 8 years ago when he was 19 years old. I think his spells at Barnsley, Rotherham and Portsmouth in the Championship/upper League One in recent years hint that he has something about him.

Good signing for me, a player at his peak with experience at the level and good physical quality’s, we lacked all of that against Blackpool.

Interesting change of signing, suggests we have a bit of money behind us.

I see your point, but having seen him play for us, and every time I've seen him play against us, I've not seen anything to suggest he'd be the kind of player to help us progress.

I remember when he came back with Rotherham he scored at the east end and then had a fight with one of our players who was trying to get the ball back. It was annoying but I also kind of liked it - he’s a full blooded sort of player as well as a skilful winger

I think Pompey offered him reduced terms, and we are probably paying close to what he was on before. Which is why he maybe heading our way!

Like someone else has said, there are some very good players out of contract. We need to recruit wisely, and then mount a serious challenge for the top 2.

No excuses this time. We need to hit the ground running, and cannot afford another season of catch up.

I’m pretty sure Moncur grew up as a Swindon fan and hates Oxford.
