Another defeat, another 2 goals conceded.

But we don't need tge prize money from a cup run as Tiger rather flippantly and unconvincingly said in the 5 minutes fans forum: "everything is fine."
If you did listen then you'll know that any cup money isn't budgeted for so only a nice bonus.

Stevens has let in goals, as does Eastwood, showing that both gaol keepers are affected by the poor defence and the extra pressure it puts on a goalkeeper.

Our midfield absolutely infuriates. I get some of these haven't been playing regularly which gives them some excuse, but either Robinson is playing them in roles they can't play or the quality just isn't there.

Kelly - if he's supposed to be a quarterback midfielder I dread to think how an American football team who only ever pass five yards sideways does well. Plays like someone obsessed with his passing percentage rather than ever helping the team do anything constructive. Also gives away needless fouls constantly and throws out his arms in exasperation. At least when Gorrin gives away a foul it's normally to break up play.

McGuane - just not sure what he's supposed to be good at. Seems disinterested at times, takes an age on the ball and comes across as a liability in his own half. The odd flash here and there but nowhere close enough to be a starter. For someone with a history of Arsenal and Barca must be crushingly disappointed where he is now. I'm certainly disappointed too.

Sykes - see above, just not sure what he's supposed to be good at. Every now and again dances forward and shows his pace or hits a decent effort, but his game is littered with mistakes. Heavy touches and hospital passes aplenty. Really expected him to push on this season but can't seem to find a position and seems to be reliant on the odd flash over 90 minutes rather than sustained productivity.

On the other hand to the negativity and frustration above, we weren't actually all that bad today aside from the two mistakes (or three if you count the ref/assistant/FIFA's offside rules). And I bloody love Forde. Just never stopped running and at least proves a square peg in a round hole can sometimes be the best player on the pitch.

Big shout out to Shodipo who I thought was excellent as well. And the two centre-backs.

Ah well, at least means a tiny bit of extra recovery time for the league campaign.

Scum knocked out by Darlington. Does that mean it’s likely our rearranged game would be the 2nd round weekend? Be better than a week off.

Rather play the loser of the Ipswich\Portsmouth game, I thought the swine had conceded the derby.

Very frustrating. Should not be losing games like this.

Again the two goals we conceded were soft - Ruffels’ poor control for the first and McGuane rag-dolled on the edge of the area for the second.
Shodipo apart and Forde, the quality into the box is dreadful. Sykes a huge culprit with his final ball time and time again.
Hall did not produce anything either and Taylor is so isolated.Thought Kelly was OK on the ball.

Can’t say anything positive with the subs we made - they arguably weakened us in my view. Cooper not good enough when he came on
with poor decisions. Robbo keeps doing this with his changes.

Another issue - we give sooooo many free-kicks away it’s criminal.

Shodipo and Forde the standouts although (from the radio commentary) the former seemed to get less involved as the game went on. But an 'encouraging' performance although pretty soon we will have to stop 'looking' good continually and actually start stringing a few wins together.
Shodipo motm for me. He might have faded slightly in the 2nd half, hoping for great things from him in the future.

Robinson agrees with me in saying the final ball is often wasted.

At least he acknowledges it. His post match interviews have been rather all over the place in seeing something different to us.

I’m do need to get better at creating clear cut chances and better final ball delivery is a big part of that.
