Ex Player Rob Dickie

I think we should have a whip round and buy him a bunch of flowers or bottle of prosecco to wish him well as he moves on

Blimey. That was impressive. He won everything in the air. His positioning was spot on, on many occasions. He looks big, strong and confident on the ball. You all know im a fan of his but its lovely to see him fitting in, so quickly.

If you told me I was watching Rob Dickie, I'd believe you. Exciting player.
I dont think they would put headers he lost in a highlight video. In fact, it seems like a simple pass to the other CB is now a highlight.

Seen enough of him to know he is quality.

Maybe it shows the lack of communication across the wider media, but Rad Ox were massively out of touch with their £1m valuation at the weekend, as were those who jumped on that to have a little dig at the club.

In this current climate, with a shortened transfer window, and a few months left on his contract, £2.5m is a great return and shows that club has a better grasp of player valuations than many give credit for. The fact that we've already brought in his long term replacement for £100k makes it even better.

As for those claiming that we are lacking ambition, or not really going for it this season, wait and see who comes in in the next week or two, and judge then!

The fee was undisclosed.

You've discounted RadOx opinion of the fee, and assumed that Twitter rumours are correct.

And there it is! The annual Scotchers "going for it you just wait and see whos coming in" post. Brilliant!

Ever since he signed the extension last year, we all knew he was probably going to leave this summer. Fans have had a whole calendar year to accept that he's going.

Obviously it's disappointing to see him leave, but because of the way he's conducted himself on and off the pitch for the past couple of seasons, I don't feel too much sadness and certainly no bitterness like I have with a handful of deals in the past few years. If anything, I'm happy for him that he's been given the chance to prove himself at a higher level, and I hope it's not long before he's playing in the Premier League.

They didn't say that though did they.

They said the risk at this stage of Rob Dickie's contract is that he goes for such a fee but the club shouldn't be prepared to accept that. They also said that they'd be surprised if he went for the 3m+ that a lot of people on social media had been setting as a minimum.

How would you describe our transfer business to date, and what calibre of players would you like to see come in to justify the "going for it" statement? Just trying to gauge your expectations and whether you'll be disappointed or not?

For example, Will Grigg could be described as someone who will rip league 1 apart, or a busted flush. Both views could be valid of course.

Just wondered where you would like to see us strengthen?

Id be impressed with Will Grigg.

Sad to see him go, but if he keeps progressing at the rate he has been, then he’s heading to the top, and we can’t stand in his way. I’m just glad we were able to help him along the way.

Good luck Rob, look forward to seeing you in an England shirt.

Good move all round.

More evidence we are a good club to come to for young ambitious players

Dickie has conducted himself well on and off the pitch and if the last few months has reiterated anything it is that life is unpredictable. He could have a career ending injury tomorrow.

The club has a strong squad, taken sensible financial precautions in the last two windows and with one or two additions no reason to think we cannot be in the top six again.
