Ex Player Rob Dickie

Remember reading somewhere that Reading have a big sell on percentage. Like 25-30% if I remember correctly.

Realisticly it will cost us 300-500k to replace Dicke with the likes of lindsay. So if the offer is around the 1 mil we may as well keep him.

Unless of course the chairman doesn't want to replace him and use the inexperienced but good prospect Atkinson as first choice. Personally I think we would need an experienced player aged 24-26 with over 100 games at a good level

You also don't believe we took a massive punt on him and gave him a chance to play and better his career.
Nope. He was getting rave reviews at Lincoln, we got him in January ahead of other clubs in the league due to Tigers connections. He has developed well here, signed a year extension out of loyalty, and has earned a move up the ladder.

Your thought is that until the day we get a £6 million pound bid, he should sign contract after contract ad infinitum? Get a grip.

A massive punt on someone who was highly rated and playing well in the division below?

For a nominal fee

No, that isn’t a massive punt, it’s what our club does, they sign young players with potential, help them reach it then sell them for a profit

We’ve done it a dozen times the last few years

I just don’t know why you’re angry about it

He signed a new contract with Reading in 2016, and we bought him in 2018, when he was probably coming to the end of his contract, but wasn't ready to play in the Championship, so decided he wanted to move on to get first team football.

We certainly didn't take a punt on him, he was a good up and coming player, with potential sell on value, who had played for England at u18 and u19 level, and we were lucky to get him.

If anything, he took a punt on us!

I'm not angry at all believe me he's a great player and yes has been great it's more the club could have got a contract done which suited everybody instead we will see another great player we have nurtured leave for nowhere near his true value. Oh well you win some you lose some 1mil or 2 instead of maybe 4 or 5.

Dickie to QPR. £2 million with add ons rising to £3 million. Sounds very much like it was between QPR & Notts Forest. Think Matty Cash £12 million move to Villa stalling is why QPR stole the march on Forest.

A very good deal, if this is true.

Unfortunately, for clubs at our level, thats just the way it goes I'm afraid

Completely agree. It would be unrealistic to expect Rob Atkinson to come in along side Elliott Moore and play 40 games this coming campaign.
John Mousinho is in his 35th year now and is past his best and he will be an integral member of the coaching set up.
I am sure Robinson will have someone lined up to come in to replace Dickie.

Stevie Kinniburgh says the same thing in the BBC Oxford Sport podcast after the QPR match.

Surely that's why he was signed though? Also Nico Jones to step up for a few matches . Really hope that Atkinson is given the nod.

If we get £2 million in the current climate for a player with less than a year on his contract I can’t see how anyone can complain about that. This is a player that people were still undecided about until at most a year and a half ago, so he has turned into a great bit of business. If Moore and Atkinson turn out to be adequate replacements then it looks even better.

Personally I am starting to enjoy us unearthing rough diamonds I have never heard of and polishing them up. Sad that they have to move on but what’s the alternative? Bankruptcy?

Fair play to him for his time here, not really bothered where he goes as long as it’s not the scum (as if), good luck to the lad unless it’s against us but we move on and let’s get behind his replacements - wonder what Moore is worth?

If he doesn’t get the chance how does he prove he can? The same scouting system that found Dunkley, Nelson, Dickie and Moore came up with signing Atkinson, the system has been working so far so we should keep backing it.
