But surely he is right. It is at least 30 per cent gut feel. And to be honest, I would far rather have his gut feel than a so-called process run by the Dolt and a TV presenter who didn't seem able to compute the difference between looking good on the box and actually doing the rather more profound job of managing a bunch of unruly Millenials without losing the plot.
It is going to be his money (allegedly) and he needs to feel comfortable with the guy spending it.
To those saying we need some whizkid to plan for the future, I urge you to take a look 30 odd points north of us, to the top of our League. Mowbray, Cook, Adams (on a lower budget than us) - hardly first season managers, are they? And nor was Apples.
People are condemning Tiger as a chairman before he has done anything, and that doesn't make sense. He has taken on a shitty situation from his predecessor. That does not mean that the right questions do not need to be asked (Myles has the list, in case those formerly known as the Darryl Eales PR team need reminding) but let us not blame him for all our ills. It is not fair.

Well he did say there were 3/4 candidates depending on which interview was heard and expected a manager within 48 hours so foolish to start a tenure with timelines that you feel are most unlikely...i will say again he has been around the place a fair time and you would hope he had a fair idea of what his plans were and whom he wanted given that we were without a manager. if he had a prior engagement back home then why not delay the takeover or at least the announcement until a he had the required time rather than come out and say 48 hours only to change it to this week..
To be clear i have nothing against the man and i am giving my opinion based on a first impression basis where an opportunity was missed to engage with the already downbeat fans and have a rally cry to all pull together and outline his plans for the club going forward....as i've previously stated he didn't just wake up one morning and suddenly decide to speak with Daryl and sign the deal.

Faz/Allen in charge on Saturday would be Groundhog Day. Uninspiring, uncompetitive performance, full of the same post match drivel. Poor old faz will be back up to 60 a day if this goes on any longer. We have to get a result Saturday, as it’s against a team down amongst the dead men. It simply needs the new manager bounce.
Prepare to be disappointed then....... from what im hearing it definitely wont be done by the weekend. In fact, not much progress has been made.

You just can't help yourself can you Charlie.
You write 90% of a post that is very well balanced, then for whatever reason feel the need to have a pop at "Darryl Eales PR team". You really are a bit of a twerp when you put your mind to it.

Yeah, losing 5-0 at Rushden. Hayes & Yeading, Tuesday in Barrow. It was a right f*****g hoot.

I rather think it would kill us off if it happened a second time. (and I'm not saying it will happen)

It’s a joke to the paying customer, how much longer will we have without a manager? They will loose ticket sales if it carries on
I would probably renew if there were eleven sheep grazing on the pitch, but even my patience is wearing thin. Any supporter threatening NOT to renew is just looking for an excuse to bale out. Fair weather "fans". We are just going through choppy waters at present. Stick with it.

You need to start looking at the positives, Mr C. So we were thrashed 0-5 at Rushden, but the gallows humour was fantastic as we did the conga and pretended we'd scored. So we got smashed 0-3 at Barrow on a Friday night, but who didn't relish the chance to spend a couple of days in the Lakes? So the bogs at Stafford didn't actually have channels and we all waded through each others' p**s, but didn't it make us appreciate the facilities at Grenoble Road? And let's not forget the shepherd's pie at Kidderminster, or the baps at Woking. You wouldn't get those culinary experiences at boring old league grounds.

It wasn't all bad, was it?

I'm a habitual renewer as well. Not sure that I'd be happy about any sort of increase in ticket prices after this season's debacle however.

But your patience is wearing thin, so presumably you mean there will be a point where you won't automatically renew? Your stance seems somewhat confused.

Just a figure of speech. In hindsight perhaps "patience is being tested" would have been more appropriate. Apologies.

Pete, as you know I'm one of nature's miserable bastards; even so there were moments of wonder in the conference (I can't think of a single good thing to day about Hayes or Ebbsfleet tho), but once was enough for me.

More than that, my point was that it's unhelpful to imagine we can shrug our shoulders and say 'never mind' to a relegation to L2, let alone to the Conference. Our owner is not a lifelong supporter and we would perhaps be a tad rose-eyed to presume he will continue to support the hulk of our clubs should it enter the marshes that lead to the River Styx.

I do realise that PRB will slap me round the head and tell us there's no chance. Well, he's changing his tune on relegation and the longest (and darkest) journey begins with a single step.......

I’ve heard it’s going to be Dennis bergkamp from two different people this morning.
But don’t shoot the messenger.

Knowing the finances as you do, and having always been correct on them, what’s the difference in the spread sheet for say the last 2 seasons in l2 and the first 2 in l1. I bet they are actually pretty similar. Prices are up, but crowds probably slightly down. Wages are up, but we wouldn’t have as big a wage bill if we were to drop . On our current cost base it might be a disaster, but wouldn’t our cost base lessen as well? The club also becomes almost self sustainable on the model of selling one top player a season at that level, and we might now have the ability to bring in even better youth to sell at higher profit. So I don’t for one min want to be relegated, repairing a poor l1 side is still easier than having to build a new l2 side, as we would almost certainly lose some of our top players. I say it won’t be a disaster purely in that we’ve been there, I enjoyed seasons in l2 way more than this one in league one. Whisper it but despite never ever wanting to go back there, I actually enjoyed our seasons in the conference, new grounds, being the big fish with massive away attendances. Club still survived.
We all know how difficult it was to get out of non-league football and its governance always seemed at odds with the best interests of our club. We also know how easy it is to find yourself there. As long as we're in League 1, however inconspicuously, we at least have a buffer in League 2 from going back there. Staying in League 1 is important and to suggest it makes no difference, financially or otherwise, whether we are in League 1 or 2 is misguided. Once you get on the slide it can be very difficult to stop. At the moment it feels like a slide. We have to get something from the game on Saturday. I'm not hopeful. The appointment of a new manager/head coach can't come soon enough.
