He was clearly talented, and had his moments, but his attitude was very poor, and I wasn't fussed one bit when he left, and wouldn't want him back here.We sold him for one hell of a fee for somebody so clearly rubbish based on your description.
You do realise Johnson has spent most of his time in the championship, either on the bench or left out of squads entirely, and his attitude was called into question more than once, and in the 100 games that he has played, over 4 years, he's scored 5 goals!Sorry, come again? You genuinely think we will be signing players of equal or greater ability of Marvin Johnson this season?
I suspect you are going to be a tad disappointed!
The difference is they are very good players in fact there is zero chance of us ever being in for those players again where as some of the ex players people go on about my here there is a reason some don’t have clubs and there is some that jumped ship to soon and haven’t turned out as good as they thought they wasYeah and if we somehow get a chance to re-sign Roofe, Dickie and Baldock this summer for free let’s turn it down because they’re old news, look forward not back right?!
There’s also zero chance in us going for the players you mentioned! The difference is they are very good players in fact there is zero chance of us ever being in for those players again where as some of the ex players people go on about my here there is a reason some don’t have clubs and there is some that jumped ship to soon and haven’t turned out as good as they thought they was
What we need, as Blackpool showed us, is players with character and good attitude. Strong, athletic and physical. Leaders. We have nothing like enough with those qualities and IMHO none of those mentioned in this thread so far are anywhere close to cutting the mustard. If we are serious about going for automatic promotion next season these are the attributes we need in abundance together with a manager with the flexibility and nous to deploy them to the best effect.
But tbf we are looking for better, it’s ok saying he could make the step up to L1, but we need to be looking at all players to be able to step up to the championship.Dylan Bahamboula from Oldham Athletic, exciting winger, and I think could make the step up to Lge 1. I certainly think he’s worth a punt.
I saw us linked with Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe on one of these threads a few years ago - best just to leave it alone until the end of August. Some of you lot make me laugh!
The likes of Marvin Johnson and Barker are not going to sign permanently for anyone in L1. Both of these boys impact games on a regular basis. I'm not talking about looking busy, retaining the ball and putting in the odd robust tackle...im talking about genuine game changing impact. Barker for example takes players out of the game for fun and creates overloads willy nilly. A game changer with the right players around him, and on another level as an athlete.
That was a winning formulae that outplayed and out thought us last week. The problem is though can you see kr bringing those kind of players in?What we need, as Blackpool showed us, is players with character and good attitude. Strong, athletic and physical. Leaders. You dont seem to like KR. Who would you like to replace him? Big Sam? A guy from Plymouth or Bristol Rovers? That was a winning formulae that outplayed and out thought us last week. The problem is though can you see kr bringing those kind of players in?
Me neither. He will be judged on who he does bring in pretty early next season, wo who knows.

That’s fare enough but we have to find them, I don’t think we found one last seasonAt the same time we are a club, looking to unearth gems, and late bloomers. So we can sell on and keep the model going, or replace ageing players already in the squad.
McNally, perhaps? He didn't get a game, but neither did Atkinson the season before. That’s fare enough but we have to find them, I don’t think we found one last season
A LB that can play LCB is a plus but 60 appearances in 10 years worry's me.Brendan Galloway would be a perfect replacement for Josh Ruffels. Free agent now too. Surely we’re having a look
I don’t personally hate the fact we could sign players that used to play for us I would love it if we could get Whyte down the right barker or Johnson down the left that would be quality signings but I don’t see it happening I wouldn’t mind cadden coming back aswel they are all very good players that would make us a lot better I wouldn’t mind hylton to give Taylor competition neitherThere’s also zero chance in us going for the players you mentioned!
I don’t see why some people literally hate the idea of us ever signing someone who once played for us before. Personally I’m all for it if they’re good enough
Would much rather we signed the LB from gillingham to be honestBrendan Galloway would be a perfect replacement for Josh Ruffels. Free agent now too. Surely we’re having a look
