New club badge

I recently attended Derby vs Sunderland and there club shop had all stock reduced by 60% to get rid. the club shop was packed.

Exactly what our shop should be doing, absolutely no sense not having a mega clearence sale!

Caught BBC south news the other night and they had a round up of the local teams and they were still using the old badge from about 4 years ago. Such lazy journalism!

they dont want us in 'their' (BBC) region and we dont want to be in their region .... south midlands is where we , Oxford, are, NOT the south .... yep BBC south =lazy journalism and lazy regional placing by the head honchos at BBC too :cautious:..... ITV Meridian is just as bad, with fred drainage and his pompey bias, Sangeeta Bharbra and her allegiace to the plastics, and wycombe 'supporter' sarah gomme as chief sport presenter :cautious::cautious:

though have OUFC pr dept bothered to inform 'local' (hahaha), tv channels about the 'new' club badge I wonder? maybe the new badge design was sent by fax ? ...and we all know how 'reliable' the OUFC fax machine is

I did like the review of Swindon. Problems at the back have not been addressed as they look to recruit a defender showing them conceding. Spot on Jerome :D

South Midlands? Get out.

Oxfordshire isn’t a place, it’s a state of mind.

Why would anyone want to affiliate with the midlands... literally the worst region of the UK.

Not south Midlands, we are in the south.

Some people on here probably still refer to the part of Oxfordshire I'm from as Berkshire.

Not south Midlands, we are in the south.

Oxford isnt South (below the M4 is 'south'), Oxford isnt south-east, nor south-west, Oxford isnt part of greater London or Home counties

being around 40 miles away from Leamington Spa , (in Warwickshire), the largest town located closest to the actual centre of mainland Britain, geographically Oxford IS located in the South Midlands .... hence in the old days 'our' ITV region was Central, the Central South.... lets not forget the Central sport tv programme where , during the 80s under Jim Smith, it was invariably the Oxford United show

just because terrestrial channels (due to cost cutting) lump Oxford in the South or Meridian (entire south coast!!!) regions ( simply because neither has any real idea where to locate Oxford in their regional scheduling) it doesnt equate that Oxford actually IS in the South..... we're closer to Coventry, Birmingham, Rugby and Redditch than we are to Southampton, Pompey, Bournemouth and Brighton

yes Oxford is 'South', as in South Midlands, always have been, always will be too, despite what Television exec's decide

It might be close to the centre of England, but it's nowhere near the centre of mainland Britain. You have to go quite a bit further north than that.
See, for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_points_of_the_United_Kingdom

Lemington Spa is 48.1 mile from Oxford, and many of us were actually as mentioned born in what was Berkshire in those days.

Most cetral town/city in England is Meriden which is 62.5 miles from Oxford.

Most central point of London from Oxford is 56.1 miles...

We are South and proud of it ?

If you actually go by an ordinance survey map the centre of England is in a field in Fenny Drayton, Leicestershire. That is 76.6 miles from Oxford.

You are correct though. Oxfordshire is very much the south of England. I would say the midlands start around Warwickshire/Solihull.
