Oxford isnt South (below the M4 is 'south'), Oxford isnt south-east, nor south-west, Oxford isnt part of greater London or Home counties
being around 40 miles away from Leamington Spa , (in Warwickshire), the largest town located closest to the actual centre of mainland Britain, geographically Oxford IS located in the South Midlands .... hence in the old days 'our' ITV region was Central, the Central South.... lets not forget the Central sport tv programme where , during the 80s under Jim Smith, it was invariably the Oxford United show
just because terrestrial channels (due to cost cutting) lump Oxford in the South or Meridian (entire south coast!!!) regions ( simply because neither has any real idea where to locate Oxford in their regional scheduling) it doesnt equate that Oxford actually IS in the South..... we're closer to Coventry, Birmingham, Rugby and Redditch than we are to Southampton, Pompey, Bournemouth and Brighton
yes Oxford is 'South', as in South Midlands, always have been, always will be too, despite what Television exec's decide
