Once upon a time. . . . . .
The fact that the North Oxford Golf course is up for development is very interesting. I never thought that would ever happen. Lots of land there directly opposite Oxford Parkway station.
Does this make a stadium more likely? It only mentions homes, nothing about a stadium.

Will need to put in some good drainage if Stratfield Break. It gets pretty wet there.North Oxford golf club site seems more viable to me then Stratfield Brake. I can see a stadium, hotels, leisure facilities along with apartment blocks/homes on that site. Stratfield Brake on the other hand I can't see the same development.
If the nod has been given for houses, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon and their like will happily pay top dollar for the land - far in excess of it's value for sporting and commercial use.....
And then they have to get planning permission after all the consultations. But the consortium aren't just interested in building a stadium are they? They will develop the land around a new stadium far superior then kassam did with minchery farm. I would say the consortium will outbid any national house builder for land thats in the right location and they would be daft not too. There are currently over 20k new homes to built within a 15 mile radius of oxford so plenty of land for the national House builders to develop at a fair price.

I agree that our mysterious new owners would do a fantastic job of building a stadium and a community facility of exceptional quality and that they would be "daft not to" but housing developers will not be passing on the opportunity to build 4000+ new homes, the construction of which is supported by Cherwell District Council and which the courts have now rubber stamped. But the consortium aren't just interested in building a stadium are they? Bunker down!!Great, so we’re now going to get 50 pages of everyone slowly convincing each other that a brand new state of the art stadium at North Oxford golf course is imminent only for the club to announce in 6 months time that ‘all options are still on the table’...
My thoughts to a tee...Bunker down!!
I expected you to chip in with something! My thoughts to a tee...
Let’s just wait and see what comes to the fore.

It's not a question of simply outbidding the developers to take control of the land (although Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon are both "worth" around £4bn, so it's hardly a given) - the legal position is that the land in question has been set aside for housing and that allocation has now been upheld in the High Court.
