We need to know how much the stadium is going to cost, who is going to front the cash, and how much the football club will have to pay for it. They know - the idea that they haven’t got a proper financing plan is ludicrous, yet that’s exactly what I’m convinced Williams will say if questioned. “We’re still figuring that out.” No, you’re not. You know exactly how you believe this will work.
If the owners stump up £100m of their own cash (bet you they don’t) and ‘the markets’ provide an additional £60m for arguments sake, the market funded equity share would demand an industry standard yield of 3-5% per annum. That could mean anywhere from £2-3million per year solely on the minority share - the owners would still be yet to recoup on the majority outlay. How do we pay for this? Any increased revenues from stadium operations would simply go to paying shareholders, not to the football club.
What are the sums? How much are they making Oxford United Football Club liable for, and how sustainable are those figures? What if we remain a middling League One club? What if we aren’t in the Championship? What if, heaven forbid, we ended up back in League Two, which really should’ve happened last season under their watch given our points total? Can the club maintain its ability to pay for its own existence in those scenarios?
It’s all good and well people banging on about how there’s no future without this stadium, but until the details are known nobody has any idea what the future looks like with this stadium either.
Mr Benson is and continues to be a disater for our club. Wake up investors!!
I agree. The match day programme is part of the match day experience. Once I'm sat in my seat, with a coffee and a programme, I know it's match day.Don't forget the programme collectors,
It would be a sad day, never to get a copy ever again.
Typical of the way the world is going,
Down hill.....
We weren’t hearing this level of dissatisfaction when we were 2nd because that’s what happens when things are going well, ie people turn a blind eye to things / aren’t as bothered when we’re picking up the points.Well, we'll agree to disagree. I just wasn't hearing this level of dissatisfaction when were 2nd under the same board, which to me is proof that the whole downturn around the club filters down from the pitch. Yes, the board appointed Buckingham so they have to carry the can for that mishap but he was a unanimous choice amongst the fan base too. It's the world we live in, one of shifting blame, creating divisions.
@Carpy plzI’ve been stuck on it for the last hour.
Endlessly, hopelessly clicking. Desperate for an OUFC branded vibrator.
either that's a huge box or you only bought a handful of programmes.I agree. The match day programme is part of the match day experience. Once I'm sat in my seat, with a coffee and a programme, I know it's match day.
I used to keep all the match day programmes throughout the late 80's and 90's. I had a box full of em
Or he only bought the boxing day 1989 programme and the first one of the new year...either that's a huge box or you only bought a handful of programmes.
It was a big box, probably over 200 programmeseither that's a huge box or you only bought a handful of programmes.
Benson is whats changedWhat worries me a bit on the finance front is that every time I've raised a concern on these threads I've been assured by @Colin B that we needn't worry, and I've also been reassured with people like Niall M involved that there are good people looking after Oxford United's interests.
However, it does feel like the sands have shifted a bit, with Niall rumoured to have been sidelined. Can we still be sure all is well? And if not, what has changed?
So again, Tim/Grant (mainly Tim) might make some retrospective gesture, but again it would feelI don't know the answers but why not just let it ride, at least until the next programme notes and then judge. It seems there's so much playground pettiness, it's reminding me of Yaya Toure and his birthday card hissy fit. Is it really that crucial whether the written thanks and goodbye is this weekend or in a week or twos time ? As great a job that he did, he isn't going to be the one tasked with scoring the goals on the pitch and, other than those hell bent on creating toxicity, is anyone that worried that a formal thanks wasn't put in place on a weekend when he's still formally employed by the club ?
Wasn’t the pair I had in mindThe Woking burger lady, presumably.
Really? So you’re saying that Tim has to get Benson’s approval before wanting to write/make a comment(s) in the program?Tim has to get Benson’s approval before he can overrule Benson.
Sorry, off topic. What worries me a bit on the finance front is that every time I've raised a concern on these threads I've been assured by @Colin B that we needn't worry, and I've also been reassured with people like Niall M involved that there are good people looking after Oxford United's interests.

Not exactly the sign of someone being pushed out of the club ?Well he wrote the match report today
Because the new stadium plans can only proceed, and the lease of the land will only be signed off 'IF' OUFC gets planning approval. Nothing has changed financially, however, the proposal has been tweaked following feedback from supporters and anti-stadium groups. (EG: Adding a bridge). Hence the 3-month ish delay.Sorry, off topic.
If things have changed financially- why has the planning application gone in .
Er, read his notes again. The reference to looking forward to coming back as a 'customer' was a clear and considered 'dig' at those above him.Not exactly the sign of someone being pushed out of the club ?
