Snapped up as in nearly 3 weeks into the window already? Mmm

And In the case of getting loans from Champ clubs there is unlikely to be such a reason?
The Championship clubs will want to confirm their incoming loans from Premiership clubs confirmed before letting their players go.

There will be around 7 or 8 clubs bidding for those players, and each one bidding will have different pros and cons, and preexisting relationships to draw on.

The players, and their agents will have opinions too. they will want to talk to all the coaches involved and probably other players in the side.

This is a very important decision and you'll want reassurances on playing time, and faciliities. and whether it's a decent place to work?

How many people do you talk to before taking a new job, buying a new car or going on holiday?

that's why it takes a while for the dominos to fall. even if we are able to make the best financial offer that's not the only consideration.

I'm not a medical expert, so unless you are, neither of us has a clue how long it will take for him to be match fit So why assume that it will take 4+ weeks and go off the deep end. It will take as long as it takes.
That’s why I said If not longer

It could be worse. Hajduk Split apparently signed Perisic on loan despite him being out for the rest of the season!

In Split there is a lad on Hadjuks forum saying “could be worse, Oxford United have signed a lad who they had on loan but went back to Ipswich because he is out for the season even though he is out for the season”, someone has replied with “yeah but that’s Oxford, they are f*****g mental”.

You don’t need to go and check that obviously, just trust my ability to translate Croatian to English.

And 12 points up for grabs in that time with 9 points at home
With that defeatist attitude you make it sound like losing is a forgone conclusion. Where’s the faith in the players who got us into the play-offs and only four points off top spot? We’re missing a new striker but you’re making it sound like the end of the world.

Let's give you a very simple example...

Week 1 of Window:

Player A is a youth player at Brentford, and wants to go on loan.

His agent tells him that Hull (Championship Play-Off hopefulls), Plymouth (Championship survival hopefuls), Derby and Oxford (both League One Play-Off hopefuls) are sniffing. He holds out for Hull as his first choice.

Hull are also in for Player B (from Spurs), who is their preferred choice.

Week 2 of Window:

Hull sign Player B. Player A turns his attention to Plymouth.

Having waited for so long, Plymouth are also in negotiation for Player C (from West Ham), who is now their preferred choice. They tell Player A's agent that they want him if the other transfer falls through, so he waits in hope.

Week 3 of Window:

Plymouth complete the transfer of Player C. Player A turns his attention to League One options

Week 4 of Window:

After various negotiations, Player A finally (rightfully!) settles for Oxford, on the final day of the window.

Just because he didn't sign for Hull or Plymouth (both Championship sides) doesn't mean he's not a great player. It just means that both sides were able to get a better player in his place.

Hopefully that helps. Have a lovely Friday night 😁

No I’m not I’m just saying if god forbid Harris is out injured banned what have we got m.and yea I have faith and yea I’m glad we’ve got Goodwin somebody though reported yesterday he failed the medical maybe that bit was true and we are taking a gamble.
But Goodwin ticks th box in being a bill of a player tall and could be the Billy Hamilton but until he’s fit and ready to go I wil reserve my Judgement.

Signing on the last day of the season would not surprise some on here.

Your first paragraph is spot on.

The second unnecessarily facetious.

Is it too much to hope for a Goodwin signing plus a couple of loans? It doesn't have to be an expensive Ladapo-style (yet) - a significant improvement on Perkins could give us something different and not leave us relying on Harris for 90+ minutes.

Plenty of games coming up. We'll need bodies up top. We're still a couple light.
It probably was yeah in fairness. I think the point is that there’s no reason not to expect that extra body though? If anything more reason perhaps, so why the odd negativity about a signing like this missing a couple of weeks? Not everyone’s got permanent underlying injuries just because we have a few that do.

I still think we’ll get another forward on loan this month and let Gatlin go late in the window to the conference in February.
