It's more that nobody has said anything but that. Nobody's really written anything positive about the transfer, other than maybe a handful of posters.

I'm not criticising people for being concerned at our continued lack of a fit striker to support/raplace Harris, and this forum is here precisely for people to voice their opinions. I'm just bemused by the tirade of negativity in place of any joy at the signing.
I think if he hadn’t mentioned he signed but added he's injured but Goodwin has signed and ge c could be in the squad tomorrow then there might not have been much negativity.

Looks a good signing but as ever, only time will tell. We'll just need a little patience. Full training by the end of the month could be 10 days, so might be fit to replace Harris for a few minutes on 3rd Feb. We certainly have some tough games coming up before then though. As has been mentioned, Burey played up front for Hartlepool and scored a few goals so he's another option should we need to switch things around. I'm sure/I hope we'll get another forward player or two in on loan in the next week.
I’m think he would need more that 3/4 days training to be match fit he maybe on the bench and do a GoD for a few games who knows?

He’s not broke his leg, it’s managing a tight thigh basically. The club will assess him & I’d guess he will train maybe the last week of the month maybe a bit less & will be ready to play come the start of feb, if not sooner
Didn’t that t**t Robinson do that with Browne? He has to be managed it’s a minor quad let’s hope that’s all it irks and he’s managed and brought in when he’s fully ready.

I’m with @bazzer9461 with this.

Glad to see we have Goodwin, its a risk if he is injury prone but time will tell.

The issue I have, is the phrase from Des Buckingham “waiting for the dominoes to fall”

IF we were serious promotion contenders we would have been in for our targets and signed them by the first week of January which is exactly what Plymouth did last year.

But no,here we are fannying about and 15/18 points are up for grabs against four decent teams and a derby game.

Burey and Cummings have only replaced what we had,Bennett was already here, Edwards won’t play this season, by the time he’s match fit the season will have ended

I acknowledge that only having one striker up until now is not Des’s fault but let’s face it deadline day signings are going to be too late for us
I think Des did well to explain why transfers are like this and not as easy as on FIFA or Football Manager.

In a lot of these cases we’re not the only clubs in for players and many clubs, agents and players will wait to see what offers come in for them.

In the case of loans, it can be the case of waiting whilst those higher up the food chain get their houses in order, which isn’t always in your control.

Plymouth are a rare exception to the norm, and I’m sure every club would love their business done as early as possible. So if it was easy to do, why don’t all clubs do it? If you can name two other clubs who have done the same in a January window I may be more willing to accept to your point.

I think many are annoyed with late business, but what we’re doing in this window is no comparison to the work we did in the last two January windows. It’s good so far, and there’s still 12 days to go.

Forgive me if I think Des Buckingham is better placed to know how easy this is than you
Of course he should be, but that’s not the point,we all saw what a disastrous window we had last January and we almost got relegated.
Equally a poor window this year will mean we won’t make the playoffs, Ipswich and Plymouth did things correctly last year and reaped the benefits

What frustrates me with loans is that if we are looking at a player from a Prem or Champ club, then in most cases these players aren’t on the verge of a starting place or even the bench for their respective clubs, so what is the delay, why can’t we get them in earlier? Surely the more game time they’d have the better for us and the better for their development? That’s the bit I struggle with, if the player has been identified and an offer put forward then what dominoes need to fall in these such cases?

Part of the Oxford fanbase feels like a rescue dog - so frightened and hurt by previous bad experiences that barking is the only response they know.

It would be good if Goodwin were fit but he has nonetheless chosen us over Charlton, and we've also signed two players and confirmed two more.

Also worth reminding fans worried that we won't make the playoffs that the current inadequate team, the one which has so many serious weaknesses in it, is currently in the play off places. 4 points behind the leaders with a game in hand, and we have 12 days of the window to go.

In future instead of " left side" and"right side " chanting we can divide into "glass half empty" amd"glass half full" areas.

"Mediocre Window, we had a mediocre window, mediocre winddooww!"

@andystroud “ then 2weeks minimum to get match fit if not longer

I'm not a medical expert, so unless you are, neither of us has a clue how long it will take for him to be match fit So why assume that it will take 4+ weeks and go off the deep end. It will take as long as it takes.

Because they hope they might get snapped up by a Championship side instead.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't mean that what we have done so far (5 players in on 19th Jan) isn't the right way, or that what Des said about dominoes isn't true?

Snapped up as in nearly 3 weeks into the window already? Mmm

And In the case of getting loans from Champ clubs there is unlikely to be such a reason?

I don't see why it would take more than 2 weeks for someone who played on New Years Day to get match fit. If he's training by the end of January then he should be at least on the bench for Reading on 3/2.
But he’s injured has been since New Year’s Day match that’s 4 weeks out with a slight injury on his quad which he will have to be careful with so will he be fit if he start remaining at the end of the month which I assume is January 31st he’ll need more than a week to get anywhere matches fitness.
