did ok with Derby and Chelsea in the first season though.I just don't get the Lampard thing, he has proven time and time again that he doesn't have it.

I’d prefer Frank SpencerI just don't get the Lampard thing, he has proven time and time again that he doesn't have it.
Judging by the number of votes in our (to be fair, meaningless) poll there are 7 for Lamps and 98 for Buckingham.I think you are wrong and would love the opportunity to see who is right.
Bring him in.
Frank Bruno would be a knockout appointment.I’d prefer Frank Spencer
Or Frank Sidebottom...I’d prefer Frank Spencer
2 horribly toxic jobs as his most recent. Brave (stupid) of him to take them on. I’d be very divided on this if it happened but it would be a challenge unlike anything else he’s had and probably one that suits him more. Surrounded by stability and he’s not stranger to the pressure of winning. But he’s never proven himself to be tactically astute and that would worry me as there are some decent brains even at this level. One things for certain, players would love him.Lampard gets a lot of stick, I think a lot of it is unfair. He might not be a top manager yet, he might never be a to manager but I think his biggest mistake was simply taking a top job before he was ready. Yes he was out of his depth at the top end of the prem and champions league. That however doesn’t make him a manager incapable of learning his trade at a lower level.
Lampard’s Derby was pumped with money, bringing in 8 summer signings for undisclosed fees, and four loan signings from PL clubs including Mount and Tomori from Chelsea. Also brought in Ashley Cole in the January. It was Premier League or bust, and the next season Derby’s finances were fucked.Took Derby to the Championship playoffs and a Chelsea side to a top 4 finish... he has something. But the rest of the time, who knows?

He is not wanted here, but closet Chelsea fans would love to see him.
Saying that, if the senior management team like what they see following a serious interview process, and he's the one outstanding candidate then of course we'd have to back him.
If so, (for the first time) he might want to make his first signing a translator.Update on Des Buckingham:
Wasn’t on the betting list for Lincoln job but went to 4/6 10 mins ago. Betting has now closed.
Bit like ManningSteer clear of Lampard. Too much noise around him (evidenced by the media creaming themselves at every mention) a famous name and nepotism gets him places, done nothing of serious note in management. Would toy around with us for a bit and after any success he'd quickly be off again.

At Chelsea (in his first spell), he did ok in the first season, but was sacked in the second in 9th place 19 league games in. Tuchel came in and with the same squad of players got them to 4th and won the Champions League that season.
His spell at Everton was poor with a 27.3% win record, and his caretaker spell at Chelsea was absolutely hopeless.
He may be able to identify good players, but let’s not pretend he’s anywhere near a good manager.
I never mentioned Manning, and if you're having to bring up the record of a different manager in a different league, then it shows that Lampard doesn't have a record to stand on. I do care whether it's Lampard or not, because Lampard is a hopeless coach; take away his name and record as a player and what do you have?Manning's MK Dons were pumped full of money too when he took over a ready made decent team and didn't really need to do anything different. When the good players left and the money was reduced his team was rubbish and he was completely lost with what to do, and was quickly sacked as his team ended up being relegated.
Manning's Oxford were pumped full of money too with a very competitive league 1 budget this season and he managed to do well with it on an incredibly small sample of 15 games. When he first came in and he had no money to spend and had to make do with what he had got in his first 10 games he just about did enough to escape relegation, he certainly didn't pull up any trees and look anything more than very average.
All we need is a manager to get us promoted this season. This could be the best chance we have before we move to the new ground and having a club in the Championship next Summer is going to give a far better look to justify our need for a new stadium. On this basis I really couldn't care if it was Lampard, Eustace, Whitehead, or even Ainsworth, there is one job to do and as long as they do it then there can be no complaints. It's not just the manager, the owners need to realise the opportunity and player investment in January is an absolute must. Once in the Championship you then need to plan to stay there. But getting there in the first place is the most difficult part, and if this is achieved with a compromise on the style of play then maybe we just need to accept this when looking at the bigger long term picture.
Might be a bit naive of me to say but presumably anybody part of the CFG gets a sort of inherent respect from the football league and more so premier league clubs. I think it should be very much part of the criteria that the new manager is someone that clubs will actively try to push their better young players towards rather than hold them back. The loan system is such an integral part of EFL management.I voted for John Eustace as i believe he is the best out of contract manager we could get. But haven't heard if he is interested or not.
Buckingham would be good but going to cost a chunk of cash to release him from his contract and also I'm unsure what contacts he has in the football league. Also looked like Lincoln had beat us to bring him in.
Lampard is interested in the role, has the contacts and quality backroom staff to bring in with him.
Let's not rewrite history with Manning (who I can't stand) he did a very good job getting the team last season playing in a coherent, organised way. It's not easy.Manning's MK Dons were pumped full of money too when he took over a ready made decent team and didn't really need to do anything different.
