How do you guys feel about your chances of winning the league this season?

Pompey fan here living in Northampton. My wife works in Abingdon and we have friends there so we have some links to the city.

We are really surprised how well we seem to be doing at the moment.

A lot of us had been relegated to another season of mid table mediocrity and playoffs at the best but things seem to be going ok for us at the moment.

I’m not convinced we have the squad depth to keep this up all season and feel like Oxford do.

Do you think you’ll win the league and how does the good start for you guys compare to where you thought you’d be after preseason and the transfer window?

Just enjoying it for the moment, after the shot show that was last season to see a team with a plan, organised and clear style of play, good, motivated and happy players, obviously most importantly winning loads is a very welcome change. I fancy us to be up there, we will make the play offs but it’s whether automatics will be a step too soon for a side that were in a relegation battle only a few months ago. Every win gives me a bit more belief though, we have some very good players so can’t write off the automatics.

I imagine Leicester fans felt the same way in October 2015!

Squad depth looks good, but even so could be challenged by suspensions if the last few months are anything to go by, let alone injuries.

Bristol Rovers are often a banana skin, and a lot of people were saying that if we won, they'd start believing we could go up. Well.....

I hope both us and Pompey go up and the title is decided by who does better out of the head to head games.

Both of us have had outrageous starts to the campaign ,to think if we didn't go down to 9 men and give away that last kick of the game penalty against Vale we would be level on points with Pompey with a game in hand still.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I really believe that this demonstrates the reality of good people management. We know Mous had it, it was apparent from his time with us and as the players chairman. We know that Robinson didn't have it. We do know that Manning has it in spades and has turned us around and demonstrated how, with the assistance of a good team, recruitment can bring in the right personnel to turn a side into a functioning squad.
As to how the rest of the season progresses, who knows, it will be what it will be. I think we know it will be a long while before either club can say we've cracked it. If we can just enjoy the journey and not have to endure too many crap officials and negative football sides, we may yet see the light of promotion.
And, we haven't played each other yet!

Added a P.S. for OX14:- Except when you play us. 😁

I'd also be happy with second if it meant Mousinho won the league.

In fact, if he claps the Oxford fans at both our games this season then I'd even be happy if we just scraped into the playoffs. It'd be worth it if it meant we got some recognition from him.

Crikey…… Best you treat yourself to one of these and a ticket in with the Pompey fans, I’m sure you will receive his applause.

I am surprised how many people wouldn’t be happy with second.

You’ll all be great fun on a promotion party.

This thread is getting embarrassing, anyone reading this would thing we are a bunch of students or something.
Do you think our boys fought the Pompey scum in the trenches London Road down the years just so we could give their manager a guard of honour when we come up short?

If I could just touch the hem of his garment...
