I'll admit I have a chip on my shoulder about these things which is probably due to growing up in Oxford. I'm a proud supporter of The 93% Club too. I stand by my comments but that's for a different post.

I just hope our planning application is looked at as favourably and fairly with no unconscious bias as football and football fans will be using the proposed new stadium.

But as I say, let's keep this thread on topic.
PS I hadn't heard of the 93% Club, it looks like a really worthwhile organization.

Can’t help but respond because I’m interested in what you mean. I hadn’t heard of 93% club before. But … I went to cooper and gosford hill, had music tuition funded by Oxford county music services and have performed and gone to classical music concerts all my life. It’s often more expensive to watch a premier league football team than to watch some of the worlds greatest musicians …

Has anybody seen this? Banc of California Stadium. Capacity 22,000, looks much bigger than that though. Something like that would be lovely, 4 different style stands within a sort of half bowl. Plenty for the eye to look at.

Another striking and memorable stadium.

Stadium design has really come on a long way since the KasStad was designed and none more so than in the US. Some of their new 'soccer' stadiums are terrific. Obviously football there isn't quite as big as it is in Europe so stadiums are smaller in capacity, however the design and build of their stadia for around 20,000 people are really well done. It begs the question why we've ended up with so many bland new offerings in England - Shrewsbury, Chesterfield, Wimbledon, Doncaster - when building something inventive such as that could be done. Cost, I suppose.

A scaled-down, 18,000 capacity Amex would be great for us.

Wasn’t it Rushden and Diamonds in a night match? He went back there after leaving us.
I was pretty sure it was Mansfield but could be wrong. the one I did notice though is how a crowd can be the 12th man rightly or wrongly

Living down these parts, I do enjoy the occasional trip to the Amex. Nice proximity to the pitch, friendly, keeps the sound in, nice concourses, well designed for quick entry/exit (train station, bust stops, easy access to A27) and close enough to town for away fans to make a day of it.

A version of Brighton’s ground is the dream for me. Thankfully it sounds like it’s the kind of thing we’re looking at providing for the people of Oxfordshire.

Interesting that Brighton managed to hire the Woking burger lady for the new stadium.

Closing down The Cellar was just criminal
Cellar was the church not college (St Michael’s and All Saints’ Charities were the landlord). Wheatsheaf was private developer. Jericho Tavern was brewery.

I don't think the university/colleges have had input into venues closing that I can think of, though there may be some.

The Jericho has had its brewery-related ups and downs but is currently open as a very nice little venue.

So the big day is next Tuesday.
When do Oxvox find out whether they have a 10 minute or 15 minute slot and who has been allowed to speak at the meeting?

So of the 4 years Oxford United spent in the Conference, what is your favourite memory?
A. Winning the play-off final against York at Wembley.
B. Winning the second leg of the play-off semi-final against Rushden and Diamonds at home.
C. The lights going out at a night game against Forest Green Rovers.
D. High to low in 45 seconds against Luton as they save a penalty and clear only for us to get the ball back and score.
E. An away game at Woking where a busty lady in a tight dress was serving burgers.

A for the favourite memory. E for the favourite mammary.

F. The Swindon fans/home fans getting locked in after the 1st away game at Forest Green and the "3-1 and you can't go home" chant. Also, Colin Peake, in his thick rural accent announcing the home fans getting locked in after the game.

5-1

That would be up to the venue management and promoters. I think they do comedy clubs and private hires as well as gigs.
I think the attitude of the brewery/management to the venue can be summed up by the whats on/events page on the website that doesn't even acknowledge there is a gig venue there (https://www.thejerichooxford.co.uk/events). There are gigs coming up (including the excellent Roddy Woomble, Self Help, and October Drift) but they don't list them.
There is one line on their homepage that says "Renowned for hosting amazing live music acts, The Jericho Tavern is a vibrant local with heart, soul and personality." but thats it.

They will probably know by now. It will be just a 5 minute maximum speaking time though. Might even be less, depends on how many have requested to speak.
