Transfer targets?

My guess, he is close to signing Caruthers.
On a loan deal. Another one who he has been keeping track of
is Sam Nombe at MK who has had his contract extended after scoring 6 from 8 appearences for Oxford City, he saw him play through the youth and he was outstanding in MKs U23 scoring plenty of goals. Fast and fearless without him
city would have almost certainly went down.

Samir Curruthers would be a good signing - but how stupid do we look if we now miss out on him.

Prefer it done behind closed doors and announced once it’s completed...

It's very interesting to note how open KR is about his targets and signings. Obviously there are some politics behind this but I am assuming on Carruthers, the player himself must want to work with KR again. Is there a danger of the Sunderlands or Charltons of this world being alerted to SC with KR touting him so openly? Presumably KR is aware of that risk and feels that for some reason by being open about this (and the Kane situation) that it will nudge both parent clubs in the right direction.

Not really I think it simply says whoever signs him has a bigger budget then us.

I am not sure that we would 'look stupid' but I do agree that i am.not sure how saying this in the press helps.

I'd like to see the club go for Abu Ogogo who is out of contract this summer at Shrewsbury. Tough tackling centre midfielder who is also good on the ball. He is in no rush to sign a new deal at Shrewsbury and he would certainly get a nice little pay rise coming here.

I don't think anybody else really cares to be honest..

It's like during our search for a new manager some fans were calling it embarrassing how long it was taking but most of my friends and work colleagues didn't even know we were looking for a new manager :D

I would imagine every club in L1 is aware that Carruthers is available considering Sheffield United made it clear he is no longer in their plans publically. I'm sure his agent has also been touting him around.

Do u think wilder still gets punted him first, even if he making him available ?

I like this approach. KR wouldn't say these so openly if he didn't know the players wanted to come here. I would be very surprised if their (Kane and Carruthers) agents haven't already had a quiet word in some ears and it's the parent clubs OUFC are trying to talk to. Particularly with Chelsea where KR has more or less given them a deadline.

Scott Golbourne left back released from Bristol City, he has history with KR.

BTBY will be spitting out his coffee reading that and not being able to reply!

The chap who scored a worldy against us for Dagenham in the 3-3 draw?

Be a great signing, if for no other reason than we would have a quality wham song for him [emoji16]

Looking to get another homegrown lad out of the club then MY - what do you have against them?

What are you on about?
All I said was that Carroll could be on his way out, as he hasn’t featured much at all under KR.
If any player had only figured once or twice, you wouldn’t expect them to stay as KR wants a smaller squad that he has built

What I am on about is that you seem to have a downer on all of our youngsters and seem to want them out of the club if they do not manage 40+ games in their first season.

Carroll is 19, has already notched up 16 league appearances and represented Ireland on a number of occasions. Kane had been brought in ahead of him by previous managers (Clotet/Faz/?) and had done well so no surprise KR stuck with him, but that does not mean he wants CC out. There is a sense at the club that he may do best as a defensive midfielder, but is gaining experience where he can game by game and should be given that chance to develop.
You've previously talked of Napa being too lightweight to ever make it, seemingly oblivious to the fact that O'Dowda took time to build up his physique to withstand the knocks of senior football (and he didnt turn out too bad did he?).

This is what the U23s team is all about - allowing players to develop at their own pace after graduating from the YT, and to be phased into the senior side gradually, without the pressures of the kind of expectations that you seem to place on them.
Yes, if established senior pros only feature once or twice in half a season, then yes, I can see them leaving, but these guys are different and it should be recognised that they are on their way up career wise, rather than on the way down.
