Away Match Day Thread 4/9/21 L1: AFC Wimbledon v OUFC

I didn’t actually think Forde played too badly at RB yesterday.

We lost because we couldn’t defend set pieces, and because we couldn’t take our chances - and the change of formation scuppered any hopes we did have of getting back into the match.

A man on the far post and neither set piece goal goes in. Do that and stick to 4-3-3 and I think we leave with a draw at worst.

We gave you what the police allowed us to
Wonder why that is then?

We've got decent away support but we're not exactly known for rampaging up and down the country! It must have been a stewarding / Wimbledon issue that gave the police a concern. You've just built a 1465 away end which can only safely hold 1000 Ox fans, something doesn't add up..

We had teething issues and the 1400 bolton fans pretty much did what they wanted. Thats why the number was reduced. As ypu all behaved it will creep up again now.

that is bollox ... Wycombe tried trotting that old chestnut out years ago, and were well & truly found out to be telling porkies

Its the clubs that decide away allocation, ....with the home club having the final say

We played passing football thanks..dont lump us in with wycombe

Lol give over. We are opening a new stadiilum which has had various issues. We habe a small budget and we are run by fans. The teething issues are in the home end as much as the away end.. it may take us us the whole year to sort it out but thats life. Thanks for the 3 points
And those little kiddies in the corner, certainly are making a rod for your own backs after yesterday, and kicking an Ipswich fan black and blue at the station last week, scum.

We are always going to be vulnerable at set pieces as yet again KR didn’t recruit players with physical presence, the only height we have is at CB, the rest of the squad is sub 5’10. He talked about it after the play off defeat to Blackpool, but recruitment didn’t address it in the summer.
I think both set piece defensive ... and on target shooting when attacking.... coaching is coming up , err, Short!

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but Jack Stevens is quite good a coming out and claiming/punching balls at corners
Wimbledon made it so difficult because they surrounded him and there was no way through plus the crosses came in a little bit deeper
Also when we were bringing the ball out we caught several times by their players chasing back
Both these things show Wimbledon have watched us and seen how we play hats off to their management team

I did.

As I say, as regards the stadium, just some fans being a bit sour after a painful defeat.

From our perspective we had some decent chances to wrap it up in the first half. Taylor missed a great opportunity from a decent ball in from Henry and Henry‘s effort hitting the post.

On the whole we were the better team but poor defending of set pieces cost us the game.

It happens, it’s annoying, it’s football.
‘A bit sour?’ Just a tad patronising.
Did you go yesterday, because if you did you’d see that everything that has been said on here was accurate. I’d seen the big fanfare on opening, I’d seen the photos inside the ground, it all looked good, which is part of the reason I went yesterday. So when I find this ground shoehorned between an industrial estate and blocks of flats with all the issues identified here, forgive me for being underwhelmed and disappointed. I expected better and if it was ours I’d expect ours to get criticism as well.

I know il not the first to mention this but we are so poor at defending against set pieces, last 2 seasons at least it’s been a problem, we can’t practice defending set prices I’m sure
Also we are very poor at scoring from our own set pieces …….
Plus a sitter missed by Matty in the first few mins but the Holland miss …….

For all the criticism about it not lasting. Three sides are temporary. Eventually one by one they will be upgraded but it will take time and money.
I did note the floor was metal not concrete, so the stand can easily be removed at low cost, used again somewhere else and replaced with a bigger, better permanent stand when finances allow and bigger crowds are confirmed. So actually good bit of planning there.
