Tonights Games

No interest in the reason for their poor support (or our comparatively decent support). League 1 should be as attractive as possible and respectable attendances are all part of that. Blackburn, Wigan, Bradford, Bristol Rovers, Wimbledon (especially) are all in close proximity to better (or much better) sides and can average more than 3,300-odd per game. Don't think Rochdale's proximity to other clubs really excuses the poor attendances.

Just you wait until Accrington are in league one next season!

Nope! Still two points needed to be absolutely safe. (That's the worst case scenario!)

Really ?
Oxford goal difference 12 better than Oldham, with a draw and a 3-0 defeat at Blackburn,it would mean Oldham would have to win by 9 goals in 2 games !!

Rochdale would have to win both their last two
AND
Oldham would have to win both their last two
AND
Walsall would have to get at least five points from their last three
AND
Gillingham will have to get at least 1 more point than us
AND
Wimbledon will have to get at least 3 more points than us from their three games
AND
We would have to lose both our last games (probably by quite a few as our goal difference is better)

Could happen. Won't happen.

AND we no longer use a fax machine.

Draw on Saturday and we are safe.
If we lose but Oldham fail to win, we are safe anyway.

As it happens Bob, Charlie referred to us as playoff contenders at the beginning of the season. I said in reply, no chance-mid table is most likely. We were both wrong.

My objective worst case view is this. For absolute guaranteed safety we need 3 points just in case Oldham win both their games scoring 12 goals and we lose both/score nothing.

Draw is good although loss Would've been better. Rochdale have to win both there games now to even catch us.

The same with Oldham. I'd say we're 95% safe.

Didn't really matter as even if Rochdale had lost, in relation to us they would still need to win both games. Whether they were 5 or 6 points behind us had they win both and we lost both then their GD would then be better than ours even with all 1-0 results. So the important thing was then not winning
